Okay, here goes. My first official post for Rugh Design! I would like to keep this blog as a way to help my clients and others stay afresh on the latest design trends and offer interior design tips, etc. So yes, onto today’s topic…indigo/midnight blue.
Blue. I love it, and it seems that others love it too. I’ve actually heard that there is a certain shade of blue that is most pleasing/attractive to the public eye, according to research done for marketing/advertising campaigns. Take a look around and you will see it everywhere on signage. It’s that same blue that Google uses. So it makes sense that blue would be a popular color to use for interiors as well.
I happened to be pursuing my latest copy of West Elm when this gorgeous inky midnight blue kept popping up on the pages. This color manages to feel calming, moody, masculine and feminine at the same time! Apparently, this is the “new neutral for fall.” It goes well with black, brown, gray or white accents and looks beautiful as a wall color. Also, try it as a pop of color for accents and accessories, such as pillows or vases.
Notice how the wall color (photo to the left) creates a nice contrast with the white trim and keeps a masculine/feminine balance with the mirrored desk. So, go for it! Add some interest to your space with an indigo accent wall or pop in a midnight blue pillow for fun. Who knew blue could be so versatile?
Keep checking back in for more updates on the latest design trends and inspiration. All pictures on this post are used from West Elm’s website, so have a look if you want to check out more accessories and room views.
