My entire house is painted Navajo Light , with white trim. I have oak floors yellow/ orange..
granite is Everest white with grey, orangey brown, off white .
The cabinets will be painted a white color.. the backsplash is off white with grey beige marveling very soft. The kitchen is very light and I want to keep it that way.. glowing whites and creams.. would Dover white provide the glow I am looking for??

Does Dover White look white or cream? I want light cream cabinets and light brown/tan walls. Colors I’m looking at for the walls are Behr Basketry and SW Tamarind. I just don’t want stark white, but I want my cabinets to look clean next to the wall color.

Great question! Dover white is a creamy off-white. It isn’t going to be a super white stark white, but it will still have a clean look. I will be using Dover white for kitchen cabinets. Granite is brown/tan and floors natural stone tile in tan /beige color. Trying to. House color for walls and am considering antique white. Do antique white and Dover coordinate well? I want slight color difference between the two.

Yes, if you would like a very slight difference between the wall color and the cabinets, Dover White and Antique White would work. They both have beige undertones that will coordinate with your floors and granite. Let me know how everything turns out!

Just wondering how your kitchen turned out. Your colors seem similar to mine.
I am looking for a grey(or greyish) to go with the Dover White I have chosen. We are putting up ship lap in our master bed/bath. It looks so yellow to me. My husband doesn’t see it. Please help! I loved it in store, in the can and on the top of the can. I still want to use it. I would like to use the brown muted teal accessories we already have and incorporate a grey that compliments the Dover White on other walls.

Dover White does have a warmer cream/yellow undertone to it. In brighter lights, it can look lighter and more white than cream. The gray could help tone down the yellow a bit. There are a few options of grays/greiges that could work well with Dover White, but will depend on your other selections (countertop, tile flooring, etc.).

Hi! I love your site! I am painting my interior walls Agreeable Gray and thinking to use Dover White as a trim color. Would Dover White make it pop and read as a white or would it be more yellow in your opinion?

Thank you! Dover White does have a slight yellow undertone. I would go with an off-white that has more of a greige undertone similar to Agreeable Gray or a true brighter white. I want to paint my living room walls a warm white in my townhouse. My floors are a honey oak (orangy color). My couch in the living room is a dark gray color. I am thinking about SW Divine White. Wondering how the Divine White would look with the orange/yellow oak floors? Using SW snowbound for the doors and trim. The rooms I’m painting are on the west and east side of the house.

I am thinking of doing my entire house in Dover White. I want to use eggshell on the walls, flat on the ceilings and gloss on the trim — ALL in Dover White. Thanks for reaching out! I totally understand wanting continuity. The sheen difference will help with a bit of contrast, but I may also consider lightening up the trim color for a bit more contrast and interest, especially since it is a large home. There are several lighter off-whites that could work, or you can see if SW can lighten Dover White by 25% for you. 🙂

I have painted my hallway wall Dover White and it looks just a bit too, too yellow. The hue is just a bit too lemony when I was hoping for something to go with golden tone or neutral off white tones. I tried putting several other white paints on top, but they didn’t even read or show up over the color. We have changed our light so that they are daylight and not yellow. I tried some very bright white paint colors and they seem too stark for my home. Do you know of a color (or even perhaps a glaze) that would damp down the yellow in the color without having to go bright white?

Creamy is my go-to off-white that isn’t too bright white, but without having a yellow undertone as well. Try a sample and see how it looks! It sounds like it is exactly what you are looking for.

Hello I have dover white hallways with coffee color flooring. I was wanting to add in an accent color but having a hard time finding which color. I would like to see a bright warm color to go with as it’s for a 40ft hallways

If Dover White is used for trim (including crown molding) should the ceiling also be painted Dover White or should the ceiling be painted a whiter white?

You can definitely use Dover White on trim and ceiling if you prefer a more unified look. I honestly love the look of white ceilings, but it is totally up to you!
In light of a recent lightning strike in our home resulting in a fire and total restoration, I too am planning to again use Dover White cabinets and trim throughout. However, I’m changing from Napery walls to either Dover White walls throughout or perhaps either Creamy, Antique White or Agreeable grey you’ve mentioned. I need to get away from yellow! My ceilings are 8 feet high. My question: Is it ok to paint all my ceilings the same color as my walls to make them look higher if I use any one of the wall colors I mentioned? Thanks!

I’m so sorry to hear about your home! To answer your question, yes you can definitely paint your ceilings the same color as your walls. If you are open to changing it up a bit and having less of a yellow undertone, Alabaster or Creamy as the trim color and Accessible Beige as the wall color would be a really nice combination. You would still have some contrast with the trim and walls and have fresh look for your renovated home! Let me know how it goes and if you need help making your final paint decisions.

Hi Laura- I love your site! I have a quick question. I chose Dover white to paint the exterior of my home and pure white for the trim and faux columns on the house. I have a colonial style home. I feel like it’s going to be too much of a contrast. I’m also second guessing the Dover white. Is it going to be too white? I was going to do the shutters in festoon aqua and the door in tricorn black. Thoughts? Thank you so much!

Thanks so much! Exteriors can be tricky since colors get lighter once they are in natural daylight. Dover White will end up looking more white, so try a neutral like Accessible Beige or even Malabar. They will lighten up and look more like a griege off-white. I love the idea of Tricorn Black shutters and accents! Black and white/off-white are my favorite for exteriors right now. Suzette, I am preparing to use a similar color pallette for the exterior of my home. We are painting the brick dover white and are looking for a brighter white for the trim. Did you go in this direction? If so, what color did you use for the trim? What about shutters/ door?
We are in the middle of a remodel and painted our kitchen cabinets SW At Ease Soldier. I love it but am having trouble picking the right wall color. Would Dover White work with this combo or look to yellowy? Back splash is white and countertop is whitish quartz with some gray/tan veining.
Which gray would work best with Dover white?
