Hello,
I am looking for a grey tone color to go with Baguette. Do you think Ethereal Mood would be a good match? If not, do you have any recommendations? I have two rooms that feed into each other (living area with sitting room/office). I would like to keep baguette in my living room, but want to lose some of the brown I have in my entire house. I have navy furniture in my sitting area/office, so that is why I am looking for a gray tone color that will look good with Baguette.
Please tell me if I am way off. I need help with decorating!
Thank you!
Hi Tricia,
I would pick a gray that has some blue undertones to compliment the gold tone in the Baguette. I have several go-to greige colors that could work and would love to help you chose the perfect one through an Interior Color Consultation.
Thank you for reaching out and I hope to hear from you soon!

I have a 14×14 dinning room house built 1890 farmhouse tables with black Windsor chairs the bottom half of the walls are waines coting that I just painted Ethereal grey (that I love) the sales above i painted Accessible beige and the trim Dover White … I don’t like the wall color it has a pinkish tone is there another lighter color grey that would complement the waine s voting color
Hi Joanne,
Thanks for reaching out! Ethereal Mood has more of a greenish undertone so I can see how Accessible Beige is looking too pinky next to it. I would try going several shades lighter than Ethereal Mood (check the paint swatch) to get the best results. You can also go with a lighter color that has more a gray-green undertone (on a different swatch).
I would love to help you nail down the perfect shade through an Interior Color Consultation! Let me know if you are interested. π
Thanks, Joanne! I hope to hear from you,
Laura
I have a 1920 bungalow, with orange brick pillar bases out front. I am looking at Etheral Mood for exterior house color….struggling with coordinating trim and accent colors. Would SW Intelectual Gray go better with the orange brick out front?
Hi Milidi,
Thank you for reaching out! I do think that Intellectual Gray would work a bit better with the orange undertones in your brick. As far as trim and accent colors go, I think it depends. You could go dark for the trim with a coordinating color to go with Intellectual Gray or you could go white. There are lots of options for accent colors (like for the front door).
I would love to select some options for you through an Exterior Color Consultation if you are interested! I can view pictures of your exterior and find the best paint colors to work with your existing undertones.
Hope to hear from you soon! Have a great week,
Laura
Hello –
First of all – thanks so much for your blog! It has helped me with so many color choices so far – and I love them all! I wish you had a review of EVERY color out – but I know eventually you will. π I have passed your site on to many friends!
We are in the process of step-by-step repainting our entire 1989 home. We are using the Sherwin Williams Neutral Nuance palette as a guide and want to stay within this palette or at least the surrounding colors. We have a fair amount of woodwork throughout the home and the color could best be described as the old school honey oak – some areas looking yellow – most areas looking orange hue and others with a little red hue depending on the grain. I don’t actually mind the woodwork and do not plan on changing it – but I am finding colors to go with it to be challenging at times. We painted our hallways accessible beige, dining room jogging path, kitchen dover white (we have lots of black granite and the white is so refreshing as there used to be a color similar to Ecru in there), a sun room escape gray – then this leaves the choice of the 2 story great room and loft We have a stone fireplace with gray and beige tones in it as well as a wall of windows. However, we don’t get much natural light in the room (south facing) because we have a very wooded lot. Our furniture is beige tone and our carpet is more beige than gray. I want a neutral beige with a hint a gray – and I am ok with SUBTLE green or blue undertone as I have seen this to look good with our wood. These are some colors I am debating about and have questions about. Any thoughts?
– tony taupe (is there any gray in this)
– gateway gray or ethereal mood (what is undertone of ethereal mood)
– intellectual gray (worried this will be too gray)
Thank you for your input. The other question I have is – do you suggest doing great room and loft the same color? Currently the great room is a beige color and the loft is 2 shades darker – some people notice it – some don’t. I don’t mind it one way or another – but is that dated?
I need to pick a color by Sunday for our painter to finish the house. PLEASE HELP! π
THANKS – you are awesome!
