We ended up painting our bedroom Oyster Bay. In our light, it pulls blue. I didn’t want blue, but I am really happy with the color, so I am accenting with creams, light blues, some teal, and grey green. We have grey green tile in the bathroom that is wainscoting. We have a vaulted ceiling in our bedroom, and the top part of the walls are Madison Blanche. We are using that in the bathroom, with the wall behind the vanity and wall cabinet white with some grey shiplap. The shiplap is also going on the wall behind our bed. Going to take the plunge, and paint the bathroom ceiling Oyster Bay, with wide white molding. Painting the vanity and cabinet charcoal grey. Everything is chrome. I’ve spent the last three days stripping paper in the bathroom, not done yet, and it is a small bathroom??
We are about to paint our new siding Oyster Bay. I want a soft off white for the trim but my partner prefers more of a cream color. Is there a color that would please us both that goes well with Oyster Bay? Also trying to find a good color to paint the concrete porch and a pop color for the front door—which is a whole other situation. There are 2 doors to the front of the house. Do we paint them the same color? Thanks so much for your help!
Did you ever get a reply on your Oyster Bay looking like baby blue question? We just had a very large accent wall painted in a similar size room also with a lot of natural light and had the exact same experience – gray green in the upper corner (the color we more expected) and a baby blue look everywhere else – a color totally inappropriate for the space and house. It was a Sherwin Williams in home consultant that picked the colors but she did not deal with our circumstances apparently – lighting, etc. We painted Oyster Bay on a small area wall in an adjoining room (open so can see both at the same time) and it was the perfect gray green (no direct light on that wall) – so really disappointed with most of the big wall now being baby blue. Not sure how to fix the issue with out repainting everything we just spent money and time to do.
I’m so sorry that Oyster Bay didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to. Blues can be tricky and it sounds like the lighting played a part in it turning more baby blue, especially since it looked great in your other room. I know you just spent time and money, so I understand your frustration. I can email you a coupon code for a Color Consultation that includes a FaceTime if you would like me to take a look and help you problem solve/find a new color.
I hope to be able to work with you to find the best solution for you space!
We are building and I am picking out paint colors. I am thinking oyster bay for the open living and kitchen with a stone fireplace. Is this color too blue/green for such a large space?
Oyster Bay might be a bit saturated for an overall main wall color, but Sea Salt (one shade lighter) could work! I have a good friend who has Sea Salt as her all-over color and it is beautiful! Grab a sample and test it out on your walls to see how it looks in your lighting. If you still need help picking out the right paint color for your space, I would love to help through a Color Consultation!
I found Sea Salt to be way too pale baby blue in my house. I used Oyster Bay in my Great Room and Kitchen/Breakfast Room. Looks amazing-keeping in mind I only have a few uninterrupted walls. Makes all of my wall decor pop! Hoping your suggestions for complimentary colors work for the adjoining hall and foyer. Right now just lots of paint samples on the walls. Love your blog!
Hello!
I am looking to paint my laundry room floor (currently painted concrete) in Oyster Bay. My trim and doors are currently painted Divine White. I am looking for a wall color that is a decent contrast to the Divine White but not too dark as it’s in our basement and there’s no natural light. Our walls in our adjoining (but separate) living room are Latte and trim is Divine White. I thought about Kilm Beige but fear it may be too dark. What do you think? Would there be another color you would reccomend as a wall color that would be a little lighter than Kilm Beige and would still look nice with the Divine White?
I would suggest Kilim Beige since it’s one shade up from Divine White and will create some contrast. Test out a sample and see how it looks first. If it’s feeling too dark, see if your Sherwin-Williams store can mix it up at 50 or 75%.
Keep me posted on what you decide! I would love to see a picture of your finished laundry room, especially with the pained floor in Oyster Bay. 🙂
Hello Laura! Thank you so much for your reply and advice…you are awesome! I plan to start painting in the next week or two…..Graduation is coming quick! I’ll definitely send pics of my before and after!
Thanks again!

My entire house is painted in SW softer tan. Trying to add some color to some room and thinking of oyster bay for the dining room, but I’m having a hard time convincing myself the colors look ok together. I’m also considering silver mist and sea salt for other rooms, but again, am struggling to decide if they all look ok with the overwhelming amount of softer tan.
Thanks for reaching out! Actually, yes, Softer Tan works great with colors like Oyster Bay, Silver Mist and Sea Salt. The warmth of the Softer Tan compliments the blue-green undertones in the other colors quite well. If you are still having trouble and need help coordinating colors, please feel free to reach out for an Interior Color Consultation!
Thanks for reaching out! Navy would be gorgeous with Oyster Bay! I would love to see the finished results. 🙂 If you need a good navy, I have several that I love and can help you find the perfect one through an Interior Color Consultation!
I love Oyster Bay! Since your kitchen color is already pretty light, I would go with a true bright white, like Extra White. You can’t go wrong with white cabinets since they are so timeless and classic! Let me know how everything turns out!
I am going with Oyster Bay as an accent wall in the master bedroom paired with Balanced Beige or Accessible Beige as the overall wall color. What do you think of going with Contented (lightened by 25%) in the master bath? I tried Sea Salt and although I love the color it showed bluer than what I wanted in the space. I tried Comfort Gray also and it too was a little darker than I want for that room. It’s a small space with not much natural light.
That sounds beautiful! The bathroom doesn’t have to match the bedroom perfectly, it just needs to flow by having a hint of the undertones in the bedroom area, which it does.
I love Oyster Bay! It’s such a beautiful color. I like the look of a darker gray color paired with softer blue-grays like Oyster Bay. My door is painted Urbane Bronze and I love it. It is definitely one of my go-to colors for front doors!
Thanks for reaching out and have a great week!

Looking for some advice… my home is painted in mostly SW Antique White and I’m looking to change up the accent colors for my kitchen and fireplace to more of a gray/blue/green that will still be pretty warm and work with the creamy neutral of the antique white. For reference, my cabinetry and flooring are maple. Liking the swatches of comfort gray or oyester gray (not sure how dark I want to go) or Silvermist. Do you think those colors would play well with the Antique White?
Yes, Comfort Gray and Oyster Bay are great colors to go with Antique White. So is Silvermist! There are a few others that could work, depending on your other selections. I would love to help you find the perfect color through an Interior Color Consultation! Let me know what you think!
We are debating between Oyster Bay or Silver Strand on our basement walls (no natural light) . We have light brown (w/dark brown spots) acid stained floor that we thought it might compliment. Any thoughts on which one would be better? I can send a picture if you would like. Also, can you recommend what trim/ceiling color that would complement the above colors? Any help would be very much appreciated!!!
Both colors are so pretty and sounds like they would work with your scheme. Silver Strand is lighter than Oyster Bay, so that is what I would go with since it is in a basement with no natural light.
I would love to see a picture and help you pull the whole look together through an Interior Color Consultation if you would like!
Hello, my husband and I are looking to paint the exterior of the house we are building. The area we are building the house in is known for it’s tall pine trees, and while the lot is wooded, it’s not covered, and the house will be in the center of a large clearing. My builder is wanting me to go ahead and start looking at exterior paint choices and I’m at a loss truthfully. I am looking at using a ledgestone with gray and beige tones for some parts of the front of the home, but on color, I’m at a loss. I was wondering what you thought of the color combo I’ve come up with. We’d like to do “Oyster Bay” for an overall exterior color, use “Jogging Path” for the secondary color and then “Dover White” on the trim. There will be cedar accents as well, with the posts on the front porch and then the doors of course.
Your home sounds like it has a gorgeous lot! I like what you have chosen. Oyster Bay, Jogging Path and Dover White look like a great combo! I would definitely put up samples so you can see how they look at all times of the day. You may decide after seeing how it looks up on the house that you need to go either lighter/darker. Let me know if you have any more questions of if I can help you further! I would love to hear what you end up going with as your final decision too. Feel free to post a picture if you can, too!
Thanks for reaching out and have a great weekend,

Good Morning, I am using oyster bay as my accent color in the master bedroom. We have arches and a wall with colums that I am accenting. Right now I am considering Ramie as the main wall color. Husband doesn’t like either. Our ceilings will be Dover white. Our new flooring will be Italian porcelain tile which is a light blond and gray. Is there another main wall color that you could suggest? There is a long hall leading the the master bath. I was going to do the master in comfort gray and oyster bay. Thank you.
I love Oyster Bay (and Comfort Gray)! Balance Beige is a perfect overall neutral color to compliment Oyster Bay. Another option is Kilim Beige. Both colors will go with a light blond/gray tile and Dover White ceilings. Grab samples of both to test it out in your lighting. I offer Color Consultation if you would like more help. Thanks!
