I would love some help on two color choices. I painted our formal living and dining rooms Realist Beige with Charcoal Blue accent walls. I love the blue, but am uncertain about the beige – while I wanted to have the room light, the color seems somewhat gray. I’m planning to freshen up the paint colors on the remainder of our main floor mainly because I despise the golden oak trim, kitchen cabinets and floors and want to mute/work with them better until we have the time and money to gut and remodel. We currently have a color comparable to SW Ecru throughout the remainder of the main floor and it’s too much yellow/gold.
My question is … how do you think Realist Beige would play against the golden oak trim, kitchen cabinets and floors? I’m debating between Realist Beige and China Doll. Would one be better than the other? Or, do you have another color suggestion that is light without yellow undertones that would work well with golden oak?
Thank you!!
I actually completed a Color Consultation not that long ago with a similar dilemma. I selected a gray with a blue undertone for the main wall color to tone down all of the warm trim and accents. By going with warmer greige or taupes, it will just keep everything feeling very warm. I would guess that the reason that you like the Charcoal Blue so much is that it helps cool the scheme down some.
I would love to help you nail down the right color for your space through an Interior Color Consultation!
I would love some tips on colors that would compliment Realist Beige SW 6078. Our home builder painted 90% of the walls and 100% of the ceilings in my home Realist Beige and I’m looking to freshen the walls with a new coat of paint and perhaps a bit more depth in color but I’d like to avoid having to repaint all the ceilings. I lean toward blue tones but I’d love it keep it as neutral as possible. The primary area painted will be living room and kitchen – it’s an open floorplan so these spaces run together. Our wood built-ins and trim are all painted in Alabaster but our kitchen cabinets are a dark brown maple stain. Our tile back splash has tones of both taupe and grey. Any suggestions are appreciated!
First, please forgive me for my delayed response. I am catching up on comments and I hope I can still help! I would try Balanced Beige as a possibility to go with Realist Beige (as the ceiling color) or Lattice to help cool things down a bit, while still remaining neutral. Try both out in your lighting to see how it looks. Also, you could paint some ceilings in some of your smaller rooms (bedrooms, bathrooms, etc.) white if you want a break from the Realist Beige in those spaces. Extra White is my favorite white ceiling color! Let me know if you have any more questions or if I can help further. Thank you for reaching out!
