Hello! We were looking to lighten up our downstairs from the khaki color our walls were from when we built. We have darker cabinets and floors. I wanted to paint our cabinets and built ins, but the price is just too steep right now. SO my husband picked Reflection and it has such a blue undertone. Well, let’s just say 3 rolls of tape, 5 gallons later, and a lot of work… it is brighter. SO we accomplished one thing we set out to do. But, I do not love the blue undertone. We have Woolskeen trim, doors, and crown molding. Our dining room that attaches is Coppen Blue. I feel like the Coppen and Reflections clash. I have one accent wall I was planning to do (mantle/fireplace/tv mounted). I was thinking to take away from the blue that maybe I could decorate with blues and whites and then a pop of yellow gold. I haven’t found a complimentary yellow/gold on the SW website. Any help on what color I could do the accent wall to down play the blue in Reflections or bring out the gray would be appreciated.
Thanks for reaching out! Blues can be so tricky, so I understand your dilemma. Copen Blue has more of a green undertone and Reflection is a blue that has a tiny bit of a periwinkle undertone, so that would explain why they are looking off. One way to fix it is to repaint your dining room, which I’m guessing has less wall space than the living room area. You could also try to tone down the brightness of the Reflection with a greige/taupe color for your accent wall. One like Taupe Tone or Mega Greige could help.
If this doesn’t do the trick, I would love to help through a Color Consultation !
Thanks so much for reaching out! I would keep looking for an accent color that has a bit more of a gray undertone so it doesn’t come out looking too bright and will coordinate a bit better with Reflection. Let me know if I can help you narrow down your color choice through a Color Consult:
Yes it would, actually! Reflection has a blue undertone and paired with a warm color like yellow, it compliments it well. Purple and yellow are complimentary colors and since blue is close to purple, it works! I love the blue and yellow color scheme and used to have a bedroom centered around it. Keep me posted on your project!
Could you please tell me what is the LRV of Reflection? We are remodeling our kitchen and our cabinets are a color similar to Sherman Willliams Gauntlet Gray. Our trim in the kitchen will be white. We have a lot of windows and they face south. Would you suggest a different color other than Reflection?
Yes, the LRV for Reflection is 66. 🙂 Reflection has a blue undertone, so just be sure that you are okay with that! Paint up a sample and see how you like it in your space. It will go with Gauntlet Gray, but you could also go several shades lighter (like 5 shades lighter!) than Gauntlet Gray on the same color swatch. That would be my advice.
I am leaning toward Reflection for our downstairs. Will their be a nice contrast between the color and the white trim or will it blend in with the white.
Thank you!
Thank you for reaching out! Reflection is a beautiful and soft blue-gray that will still pop out against the white trim. My wall color is Lattice (a soft gray-blue) and it looks gorgeous next to my white trim and cabinets.
Let me know how your paint project turns out!

Reflection is a blue-gray color with undertones of both blue and gray. I always suggest painting a large cardboard sample first to see how the color looks in your lighting and with your current selections. Let me know if I can help nail down the right color for you through an Interior Color Consultation!

Hi I am painting my living room walls with SW Reflection. Would SW Secret Cove or French Moire go well for accent wall? Thanks

Is reflection a true light gray color? What are the undertone colors of reflection?
