Hi I am hoping you can offer some advice, we would like to paint the body of our home (in sunny South Florida) Balanced Beige. We would like a darker trim but I am having a difficult time choosing. Our roof is called Delcrest Tan and is a cement tile which is not really brown nor red. I know white would be nice and safe. And wonder if maybe we should choose a similar color to the roof. Then I think the balanced beige would make the house to plain being that it is somewhat lighter than the roof. We have a circular gold noche travertine circular driveway and our house is surrounded by trees. Can you help us?
Balanced Beige sounds like a great color for your exterior! I like your idea of going with a darker trim. A few to try are: Virtual Taupe, Brainstorm Bronze and Homestead Brown. Grab some samples and test them out to see how they look in your lighting. All of these compliment Balanced Beige nicely and sounds like they will coordinate with your roof. If you are still having trouble, please feel free to contact me for a Color Consultation. I would love to help! Thank you for reaching out and have a great weekend!
I would like to use Urban Bronze for exterior house trim, fascia, and window color. What color would compliment it? Do I need to stay in the same tone and use Anonymous? Live in a highly wooded area and want it to feel sort of ‘lodge-like” Any help would be appreciated.
I think you can venture into some of the warmer medium toned taupes for the “lodge-like” feel. If you do want to stay within the same paint swatch, I might go one shade lighter than Anonymous to give a bit more contrast against the Urbane Bronze.
If you are still struggling to make a final decision, let me know if I can help through an Exterior Color Consultation:

I like your exterior color ideas! Urbane Bronze is perfect for an exterior color. My front door is that color. I do think it will go well with a rustic cedar shutter. Hi Laura,
My house is red brick with black shutters and vinyl white windows. It needs help. The back is a paintable type siding, not vinyl. It is WHITE. I want to put urbane bronze on all the white siding in the back and the white columns, trim, and dormer windows in the front. Is it ok to leave the vinyl windows white? They can’t be painted I’ve been told. I am looking for a black color for the exterior doors, front door and garage doors. I was thinking iron ore or bohemian black. Thoughts?
Thanks for reaching out! I love Urbane Bronze. Get a sample and see how it looks with your red brick. I like that UB isn’t super dark and has a warmer undertone than some of the cooler, dark blacks in the SW deck. I do think it will work fine to have the white vinyl windows and will actually be nice to have some contrast rather than blending into the siding color.
If you would like to sign up for an Exterior Color Consultation I can get a good visual of your exterior and be able to find the best black color for you.
Thanks again for reaching out! Have a great weekend,
Laura
Hello, I’m looking at painting my house the sw camel back. With alabaster trim. We have 8 ft double doors that I was looking at painting the urbane bronze. Is that closer to black or a dark drown? I have a lot of bronze/brown accents like a three tiered fountain. Thoughts? I wish I could post pictures.
Urbane Bronze is an interesting color! It does have a brownish/bronze undertone, but honestly on my front door it looks dark gray. I think it may depend on your lighting and the direction that your house faces. Test out a sample to see how it looks with your warmer accents.
If you would to send me your pictures and need further help making a final decision, I would love to assist you through an Exterior Color Consultation:
My front door is painted Urbane Bronze and leads into a small, tiled vestibule. The trim is Shoji White. What is the best color for this vestibule’s walls? since its a small space, I really want darker. Thank you!
What are the undertones in your tiled floors? I would select a color that coordinates with the undertones of your current selections. Let me know if I can help you find the right color through an Interior Color Consultation:
I think it would be fun to add some color and use a charcoal blue! If you want to stay neutral, try going several shades darker than Shoji White for a darker, but still neutral color.
I was so excited to find your post! Being just 3 days away from my bright yellow house being full painted Urbane Bronze and I’m completely in a panic over the gable and trim color choices. The SW consultant came to my home and help with that originally and came down to Bamboo Shoot for the gables and Achier for the trim. Once the paint samples were on the house – yuk.
Not a fan of green tones and want to go toward more red/brown for the gables and a lovely contrast for the trim.
One drawback… the roof is orange/brown/black.
My home was built in 1963.
Any suggestions for red tone and trim colors I’d be grateful. Thank you!
If you are open to it, I would love to help you find the right colors through an Exterior Color Consultation! I can view pictures of your home and select colors that will work with your current selections. I offer quick turnarounds too!
Let me know if that works for you! Thanks so much,
Laura
Hi, the color of the shutters on our house is Mexican sand color, and our roof will be mission brown. Would urbane bronze front door color work?
Thanks.
I have a farmhouse style home clad in very faded cream vinyl that is being painted next week. I am struggling with the shutter color and looking for your ideas.
The house is bordered by tall pine trees and surrounded by lots of grass (sits on a 5 acre lot in the country).
There is an addition off the back of the house which includes a side entrance covered porch (which is the main entrance) and garage (this addition is perpendicular to the house). There are a lot of earth tones in that area (pavers on patio; stone on porch; brown stained pergola; and a metal roof over the porch); lots of mature landscaping; and two large shade trees.
The front of the house has zero earth tone anything. There is a covered porch with metal roof; white porch railing and columns and of course shutters. It faces north; mature landscaping and there are huge pines in front which shade the area.
We are in the country, so I didn’t have to consider HOA or neighborhood per see; but we do have a medium barn close by that we painted Backdrop last year and put stone on the foundation (some earth tone but mostly grays).
I tried earth tones for the siding paint but everything in a shade I liked competed barn (looked like I tried to match it). I also tried to go with some of the neutral grays (Anew Gray, Amazing Gray) but they looked too dull in the shaded areas of the house of which there are many and terrible in the dark against the stone on the etrance porch. I didn’t go white in the siding because the roof is a taupy brown. I tried Balanced Beige but it was too depressing (painted a garden shed in it to see it on a larger scale); I tried Accessible Beige but around the earth tones I could see a what I’ll call “pinkish” tone that I was afraid of.
So, I settled on SW Modern Gray. There is a slight undertone of what I don’t know but it doesn’t worry me. In fact, I think it gives the color some life. While is very light and washes out in the sun, there are more shaded/covered areas on the house and the touch of brightness works in those place. It’s nice with the shingle and doesn’t clash with the earth tone colors where they exist.
I selected Urbane Bronze on the metal roofs. Since the roof is at a angle, the color looks lighter than if on a door or side. I tried several browns (Van Dyke and BM dark brown) and Griffin but they just didn’t seem to make sense in the front where there was no earth tones. I tried Black Fox but it seems to harsh and lacked richness. I tried some Taupes, but they just didn’t make sense with all the earth tones.
Although I like Modern Gray, I know it isn’t going to do anything on the house except make it look fresh; so I’m depending on the shutter color!
Hi! I have had my house resided and a new roof installed…so now need to have it painted. It is an 80’s “modern” style home that is on a very shaded lot. The windows are all trimmed in oil rubbed bronze, so I want a paint color for other trim boards on the house to coordinate with that color. I just found the Urbane Bronze SW color tonite online. I just read that your door is that color but it actually looks grey in some light. I am so paranoid about that…choosing a color that looks different when seen on the finished product! So that is my trim question…Urbane bronze and other SW colors to check out to “match” the oil rubbed bronze window trim. Now for the house body color. Looking for probably a color in the beige family. Want something that will not look green in shade, etc.. Have thought about red, but unsure if that would be too dark. Also thought about a color like cedar….think the bronze trim would look good with that, too? If you can just throw out some colors to consider, that would be great!!
Can I use the following combination of colors for my exterior please.. ? This is for a single level ranch style home in a small community at Lake Mary Florida.
SW7048 SW Urbane Bronze Satin (Fascia – Roof Trims, Gutters)
BASE COLOR SW7011 Sherwin Williams (SW) Natural Choice Flat
TRIM COLOR SW7005 SW Pure White (Window, Body trim)
FRONT DOOR COLOR SW6076 SW Turkish Coffee Satin
GARAGE DOOR COLOR (must match BASE color) SW6076 SW Turkish Coffee Gloss
