Please tell me the best trim color to use with accessible beige. I’m using Sherrington Williams paint, and want an elegant trim color that I can also use for painting bathroom cabinets, hope not to have yellow or pink tones in the trim color. Thank you
Hi Kathy,
Accessible Beige is a great color! If you are looking for a trim color without a yellow or pink undertone, I would go for a bright crisp white, like Extra White. I have Extra White as my trim color and I’m so happy with it. It would pop out great against Accessible Beige and look good on your bathroom cabinets as well. Let me know if you need further Color Consultation and I would be happy to help. Thanks so much!
Hi Laura,
We repainted one floor that includes our living room with dining area and kitchen. We used accessible beige as main color and accented kitchen wall between dining and kitchen and back kitchen windows with SW rainwashed. Also painted powder and laundry room with Rainwashed. It’s a beautiful shade. I have dark cherry-brown floor, honey maple cabinets and black brown granite. What other color can I use with accessible beige. My kitchen tiles are lighter cream brown. What can I paint in the stairway and guest room on 1st floor. My ceiling and trim is alabaster. I want to continue blue hues but better option than accessible beige. We have new furniture mostly farmhouse whites, wheat, light beige color.
HI Laura, We’re thinking about repainting our interior w Accessible Beige. We have an open floor plan and 20 ft ceilings in family room. Do you think painting a wall in family room w fireplace and our dining room balanced beige would look good? Also, will gray couches work in family room?
Hi Tina,
I love Accessible Beige and Balanced Beige! One thought is to maybe use Virtual Taupe (in same color family) as your accent wall instead. It will give you a bit more contrast against the Accessible Beige and make more of a statement for your focal wall. Gray couches could work, but it depends on the shade. Try holding up a paint sample against the fabric. Chances are, it will work. Accessible Beige/Virtual Taupe have gray undertones. And, keep in mind you will probably have other accent colors going on with pillows, accessories and art so it should all flow just fine. Let me know how it turns out!
Hope you get a reply…I painted our walls the A Beige ..we have cream sofa..sadly the back windows of the L/R face nothwest Casting a Gray hue opposite my beige couch on the wall..(YUCK)!! We also have tan and cream tiles in my kitchen (open floor plan) I do see a yellow tint at times across the room But we have not painted the brown trim yet or the dark ceiling and that may be the cause! I need a color for that wall that looks Gray in the afternoon//and a trim color.
Hi Melissa,
Thanks for reaching out! Sounds like you need a neutral that has more warmth to avoid the gray cast in your lighting and to coordinate with you current selections. I am available to help you find the right paint color for your space through a Color Consultation if you would like! I hope to hear from you!
Thank you,
Laura
Hi Sandy,
Thanks for reaching out! I do love Accessible Beige for a neutral. Honestly, it will depend on the undertone in your beige/tan tile. If the tiles are more yellow/golden, Accessible Beige might be too greige. However, if the tile has some gray or taupe tones mixed in with the beige, Accessible Beige would be perfect.
If you love Accessible Beige, it would be worth it to consider replacing your backsplash to something that coordinates with your updated look. I love white and off-white subway tile for a classic look and feel. You can’t go wrong with it!
Keep me posted on everything and let me know if I can help you with finding a backsplash and cabinet color too!
Thank you,
Laura
Hey Laura…..I am wanting to paint my kitchen cabinets. Our trim is currently the sw6106 kilim beige….my backsplash is a grey stacked stone and my counter tops are fantasy brown granite. I’m looking for a light, greige color….any suggestions.
Hi Deanna,
If Kilim Beige is your trim color, I would try a medium tone greige color to offset your trim and kitchen selections like Stone Lion or Tony Taupe. I’m not sure what your lighting is like in there, but grab some samples and see how it looks with your backsplash, granite and trim.
If you would like further help, please feel free to contact me for a Color Consultation. I would love to assist you in finding the perfect paint color!
Sincerely,
Laura
Hi!
I’m
Hoping you can direct me on the right path. My house recently flooded so we are redoing everything!! Currently the house is painted in Kilim Beige (including the ceilings!!) and I’m wanting to change it up a bit. I’m looking for a great neutral color that will work in the whole house as it is a total open concept floor plan but I don’t want to change the ceiling color (mainly because it’s an added expense we don’t need at the moment). Kitchen cabinets are expresso and the granite countertops have multiple shades of black, white, grey and taupe. All samples I have gotten seem to make the ceiling look a little yellow so I’m hoping you can point me a good direction that may help neutralize this.
Thanks!
Wendy
Hi Wendy,
I’m sorry to hear about your home flooding! If the ceiling is Kilim Beige, I might try using a neutral with more of a cool tone, like Lattice, to balance the warmer ceiling color. I have this color in my home and it has really helped neutralize my orangey wood floors! Silverpointe is one other option that you could try. Try some samples to see which looks best. If you are still having trouble, please feel free to contact me for a Color Consultation. Thanks for reaching out! 🙂
Hi,
I’m repainting my living room and dining room. I have a chair rail and would like to paint the lower half a bit darker than the top half. All trim and ceilings will be white. I am loving Analytical Gray. What color would you recommend that is either a lighter or darker shade of Analytical Gray?
Hi Barb,
I like your plan! A few darker shades to try below the chair rail with Analytical Gray are: Studio Clay (2 shades darker on the same paint strip), Virtual Taupe (for a warmer “greige” toned color) or Dovetail (for more of a gray color). There are lots of options, depending on your scheme, but those are just a few. Drift of Mist is a lighter color than Analytical Gray and could go above the chair rail if you wanted to use Analytical Gray below.
Let me know if these work out and feel free to contact me for a Color Consultation if you need further assistance. Thank you so much for reaching out!
Laura
Hello Laura, we recently purchased a home in Washington on the Juan de Fuca straight, it is an open concept with high ceilings in dining area and kitchen, but not as high in the living room area. All the walls and ceilings are flat with no texture. Also all the trim is natural wood As well as wood floors. We are trying to come up with a color palette…we like accessible beige for the for the main parts of the house, but what ceiling would go well without causing it to become a distraction. Also what are some colors that we could use in bathrooms, laundry, and bedrooms. Also all the window blinds are white.
Thank you,
Kevin
Hi there,
The house sounds beautiful! Accessible Beige is a great overall paint color choice. I personally like white ceilings to keep the space feeling light and open. Extra White is my favorite white and looks great on ceilings as well as trim. I’m not sure what other colors you are drawn to, but I like Sea Salt, Comfort Gray and Anew Gray to name a few. These are all good options with Accessible Beige. If you feel you need further more detailed help, please feel free to contact me for a Color Consultation. Thank you so much for reaching out!
Hi Laura,
We are in the process of repainting out entire downstairs- including a great room wih 20 ft ceilings, an office, formal DR, and Kitchen. We want to move towards a warm grey so we are considering Accessible Beige or Agreeable Grey ( leaning towards Accessible Beige). Two questions: Our kitchen cabinets are Dark Cherry and floors are light stained oak- would Accessible Beige work, or would it clash? Second question is- we want to create more of a contrast with the trim in the office and formal DR- but we dint want it to be too brownish- what shade would you recommend in order to obtain a smooth transition from the Accessible Beige? Same questions for Agreeable Grey. Really appreciate any advice you may have.
Jody
Hi Jody,
Thanks for reaching out! Sounds like Accessible Beige or Agreeable Gray could work just fine with your cherry cabs and oak floors. I would definitely test some samples first to see how they look to be sure and to see which color looks best in your lighting. Are you looking for more of a gray for the trim? I might try Felted Wool if you are wanting some contrast without it being too brownish. If you are still having trouble with making a final decision, please feel free to reach out for a Color Consultation. I would love to help further if you would like! Thanks again for reaching out and have a wonderful week.
Laura
Thank you for your advice, Laura! We decided on Accessible Beige in the main part of the house, and Shitake for he formal DR and kitchen – which seems to be a good match with our cherry cabinets. We kept our trim off-white and it looks great!! Accessible Beige is an amazingly versatile color- it seems to take on the personality of the room. I would recommend it for anyone who might be transitioning from traditional to more modern.
That’s great, Jody! So happy to help and I’m glad that you are loving Accessible Beige. It’s definitely one of my favorites, too!
Do you think accessible beige would work with my dark chocolate cabinets?
Hi Di,
Yes, it definitely would! Accessible Beige is a warmer greige and works well with dark chocolate woodwork.
Thanks for reaching out and have a great week!
Laura
Hi Laura,
We are in the planning stages of a hardie board style farmhouse in Texas. I wanted traditional white, but my husband would like a more neutral or light beige color. We will have a standing seam metal roof, double walnut stained doors and front posts and a brick porch with different elements of these same colors with a tinge of black. Possibly rustic black or stained shutters on the garage (which is kind of carriage house style). I have been laboring over the color for the house and trying to minimize undertones (especially yellow). After considering Accessible beige, I’m now leaning toward Natural Choice with maybe extra white trim? I have a certain amount of paint colors from the builder to use, so was hoping the trim color we choose can also be used to paint our white kitchen and trim on interior. I greatly appreciate any input you can give me!
Meg
Hi Meg,
I apologize for just now getting back with you! I like the thought of going with Accessible Beige for a bit more contrast against the Extra White. If you want less contrast, Natural Choice is an option! My worry is that it will get a bit washed out in the sun. Natural Tan is one more color to try. If you are still having trouble, please reach out for a Color Consultation and I would love to help further. 🙂 Thank you!
Laura
Trying to update our boring beige into a greige, but struggling to find the perfect match. We have antique white moldings and an open floor plan and can’t find a color to make the dining room pop! I painted ceilings alabaster to open up the space and we have walnut floors. I plan on doing the main areas accessible beige. My dining room table has taupe/gray chairs and want that room to stand out. Need help!
Hi Kristen,
Thanks for reaching out! It sounds like you are on the right track. Accessible Beige is a great choice. One of my favorite colors to pair with it is Comfort Gray. It is a gorgeous soft blue-green color with some hints of gray that works well with Accessible Beige. Grab a sample and see how it looks in your lighting. If you are still struggling to find the right color, please feel free to contact me for a Color Consultation and I would love to help! Thank you!
Laura
Laura,
Accessible beige was not the right color for my space. It just didn’t do enough to freshen the space. Tried amazing gray and it turned blue! Many other samples have turned blue on me too. Not sure how to fix that.
Hi Kristen,
Oh, no! I’m sorry! Lighting plays such a big part in picking the right paint color, so sometimes it is trial and error as you sample the colors that you are drawn to in the paint deck. Have you tried Drift of Mist or Gossamer Veil? Both are light and would help to brighten and freshen the space. Test them out to see how they look in your lighting. If you are still having trouble, please feel free to reach out for a Color Consultation. I would love to help further! Thank you for your reply!
Laura
HI Laura,
We are updating our traditional home with some modern colors. I’ve decided on balanced beige in our family room (which I love) and accessible beige in the foyer and halls. My office is adjacent to the foyer and I was hoping to find something coordinating.
I spend a lot of time there so I’ve been so afraid to pull the trigger on a color. I love the gray, blues, greens and Quietude is a favorite…but maybe I should go lighter to sea salt? do you have any suggestions?
Kathy
Hi Kathy,
I love what you have so far! Balanced Beige and Accessible Beige are some of my favorites. 🙂 Quietude is a great color that coordinates well with BB and AB, but if you are worried about it being a bit dark, try Rainwashed (one shade lighter on the paint swatch). Sea Salt is another wonderful option or even Comfort Gray, which is a shade darker than Sea Salt but still has enough of a gray undertone to keep it feeling soft. If you are able, get some samples to test out in your office so you can see how they work in your lighting. If you don’t want to paint directly on the wall, I suggest getting some white cardboard and testing the sample out there. Then you can move the board around the room to see how it looks on all of the walls at different times of day when the light changes.
Let me know what you end up deciding! If you are still stuck and would like further help, please feel free to reach out for a Color Consultation. Thank you so much for reaching out and have a great rest of the week!
Laura
Hi Laura,
I can use a bit of help here. I am choosing paint for my two story foyer and hallway , dining room, living room and family room. I have been learning alot about room orientation and sunlight. I have a West facing home. The back part of my home is bathed in morning sunlight which is also where my family room is located. The front part of my house of course get little to no morning light but lots of afternoon to evening light (foyer, living room and dining room is located in the front-west facing part of the house).
I have been looking at Acessible Beige for the two story foyer and hallway but I am afraid I do not like the grey under tones. Can you recommend a great foyer and hallway color? I would like the living room and dining room to be a shade or two darker than the two story foyer (these two rooms open unto the foyer). Any color ideas for these two rooms as well?
Hi Felicia,
Thank you for reaching out! If Accessible Beige feels too gray, try a color with a warmer undertone, like Natural Linen. It sounds like you could use a Color Consultation! I would be able to help you in more detail by seeing pictures of your space and talking through more details. Let me know if you are open to it! Laura
Hi Laura,
I love your site! I am torn between painting our entire home with Accessible Beige or Worldly Gray. Our new home is 3900 sq feet and has dark espresso floors, white kitchen cabinets, and an espresso island. The granite is similar to Bianco Antico. The kitchen/great room faces southwest. We also have a lot of charcoal gray furniture and pillows with cool blue tones (similar to sea salt), and rugs with gray accents. I like the beachy/coastal look(we’re in Orange County, CA) but our builder already installed dark floors. Our kitchen table in breakfast nook is the Big Sur oak table from crate and barrel.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much!
Annie
Hi Annie,
Thank you! Based on what you told me, it sounds like you could go either way. Accessible Beige is a bit warmer and has more griege undertones and Worldly Gray is a bit cooler and has more true gray undertones. If you like the beachy/coastal look, you may want to keep it warmer with Accessible Beige. One more to try is Repose Gray. It has a slight blue undertone that shows up in different lighting. It would compliment your sea salt blueish tones well.

Hi Laura,
Do you think Accessible Beige would work in a room with a tan couch and mahogany tables. I have dark hardwood floors and a throw rug with burnt red and sage greens. The room has alot of brown tones. I also do not have alot of natural light.
I love AB but worried it will not work because of the gray undertones.
Any suggetions are appreciated,
Thanks, Sandy
Hi Sandy,
I consider Accessible Beige a warm taupe with more of a brown undertone, but if after trying a sample it turns too taupe or gray-looking, try a warmer neutral like Softer Tan. I would love to help via a Color Consultation if you would like me to view your space and be able to help you find the perfect color for your space. Hi there! We have recently painted our bedroom and dining area Worldly Gray. We are looking for a neutral color for the family room and kitchen. Would you recommend pairing Accessible Beige with the Worldly Gray that we have already used? Or is there a better “beige” color that would pair with Worldly Gray?
Hi Katy,
I love Worldly Gray! I might try Stone Lion or Taupe Tone for a “greige” to coordinate with it. If you are still having trouble, I would love to help in more detail with a Color Consultation. Thanks so much for reaching out and have a great weekend!
Laura
I am repainting my whole house with Accessible Beige. We have white trim and white columns (my husband is a trim guy so our trim is very nice) My living room is open with high ceilings and open to my dining room separated by white columns. I would like to use a different color in the dining room to give it a pop of color but not sure what to use as I am getting rid of all my sage green/burgundy furniture and thinking about using blues and grays. Just painted our kitchen and the keeping room yesterday and today with Accessible Beige and I love it!!! Takes on some grayish tones in kitchen and some beige tone in keeping room.
I want to paint the laundry room, the guest bath, and my bedroom the same color but different from AB that flows with Accessible Beige but not sure what to use. Suggestions? Thank you 🙂
Hi Dolores,
I’m glad you love the Accessible Beige! My favorite blue-green color to go with AB is Comfort Gray or Oyster Bay (a shade darker than Comfort Gray). They are gorgeous and would look great in a Dining Room setting.
For the other spaces, it would be most helpful to see what other colors and selections you have going on in your space to pick the best color for you. I would love to help further with a Color Consultation to find the perfect colors that fit your space(s). Here is the direct link in order to contact me:

Thank you for replying. The Comfort Gray and Oyster Bay look too green. I just want something that flows with AB for my dining room that I can use blues and grays through out the whole house.
You’re welcome! I love Comfort Gray and Oyster Bay with Accessible Beige, but they are blue-greens that can look different depending on your lighting. If you are looking for more of a blue-blue color, it’s helpful to have a jumping off point or inspiration. Do you have a piece of art or pillow, etc. that has blues that you like or are leaning towards?
I know I already mentioned the Color Consultation, but I truly believe that it’s the best way for me to see your home in order to pick the best colors for you. There are so many different options to go with Accessible Beige and it will really depend on what you currently have in order to find the perfect color.
Let me know what you think! Thanks, Dolores!
Laura
Hi Laura,
Our kitchen cabinets are painted Accessible Beige. What colors would you suggest for the trim and walls? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you!
Debbie
Hi Debbie,
I would suggest trying Shoji White or White Duck for the walls and going with a slight off-white, like Pure White for the trim. If you need further help, let me know if you would like a Color Consultation. The best results for finding the perfect color are looking at everything together (floors, countertops, etc.). Thanks so much and have a great rest of the day!

I need help picking a color for a small hallway between 2 bedrooms that are both painted with Accessible Beige. The trim in the bedrooms and hallway is white. The hallway contains 6 doors, all of which are white. I was wondering if Agreeable Gray, Light French Gray or Passive would work. It seems that Agreeable Gray blends better with the Accessible Beige; but is there enough contrast there? Thanks for your suggestions.
Hi Terry,
I agree with you that Agreeable Gray doesn’t provide much contrast. I would consider going one shade lighter than Accessible Beige, especially for the hallway, which can get dark and shadowed. Let me know if you need more help with colors via a Color Consultation!
Thanks so much for reaching out!

Hello,
We are painting our kitchen cabinets SW Alabaster. The walls throughout the house are scheduled to be SW Accessible Beige, and the doors and moulding SW Bright white. I have a very hard time visualizing a space. Will these colors work together? It’s a very open space, with two living room windows (directly connected as a great room & kitchen) remaining uncovered, providing natural light. Any help you could give me would be great and very appreciated!
Thank you in advance for any suggestions !
Hi Robin,
That would work, but one thought is to go ahead and use Alabaster for your trim and doors as well to keep it consistent. Let me know if you would like more help with your final color choices with a Color Consultation! I would love to help you pull everything together.
Thanks so much,
Laura
Hi Laura,
We just painted our open concept main level with Aesthetic white (foyer and kitchen) and Accessible Beige (great room and DR). Our kitchen cabinets are maple and hardwood floors are oak. We wanted the walls to contrast nicely with the maple cabinets and floors without bringing the yellow on it.
We were hoping to see some contrast between the 2 colors but they look the same. Our 2 story great room has skylights and big windows and all the the light is making the AB look the same shade as aesthetic white which we used on our dark foyer (low ceiling). We have a stone (grayish) fireplace in the great room which is the only accent in the room right know. We would like to find a solution without (hopefully) having to repaint the entire great room again. What would you recommend us? Thank you in advance for your help.
Hi Carol,
It can be so tricky to pick the right shade and color of paint in your space! I am tempted to tell you to go in a totally different direction with your gray stone fireplace, but I would need to see a picture. I know you don’t want to re-paint, but it can definitely be worth it to get it right and to create the feel in the space that you desire.
I would really love to help you through my Interior Color Consultation through my Open Layout package (for only $75!) to help you find the perfect color to coordinate with all of your current design elements (fireplace, floors, cabinets, etc.). Here is the link for more information:

HI Laura,
I’m so frustrated and hoping you can help me. I am painting wood paneling (already primed and ready for color) in a very dark den. The den is on the south side of the house, and only has two standard size windows letting in light. The den has medium color wood floors. The den is flanked on one side by a kitchen with biscuit/taupe colored walls/floor tiles/back splash/medium oak cabinets; on the other side it is flanked by a hallway leading to bedrooms and entry hall which are both painted biscuit in an attempt to lighten up the dark house. There are 2 wood book cases, a fireplace mantle, and the wood window and door trims I also want to paint to help lighten up the space and contrast with the wall color. Trim will be a bright white, but not sure about the book cases and mantle.Additionally, I have low ceiling with wood beams (wasn’t planning to paint the beams). I was leaning towards accessible beige to tie in with the adjoining rooms, but as you can see I am beiged out to the max, although AB is a bit darker than the biscuit. Love the greige’s and gray’s but afraid they may be too dark and clash or look out of place. I was wondering if a light subtle color like Drift of Mist or another color would work to break up the beige/biscuit coIor scheme. I was reading about LRV’s and know I need a very high LRV number in this dark space. Please help; I hope I didn’t overwhelm you.
Hi Brenda,
No worries! Yes, I definitely agree that a lighter color is best! It sounds like an off-white that will coordinate with your current undertones would work well. I would love to help you find the right color through a Color Consultation. My One Room consults are as low as $50 and Open Concept rooms for $75! It’s worth it to get the color right!! I view pictures and send you a complete mood board with the color and the explanation behind my choice.

Laura, Lo e your blog! I hope you can advise me on warm neutral paint. A paint store color person recommended Perfect Griege for my entire main living area, foyer, hall in my Florida Villa without a ton of natural light. We are now repainting as it is a very dark gray. It looks like dark concrete unless the sun is shining on it. I am repainting but wondering if Balanced Beige might still be too dark. I have great crown moulding that is off white and another option was Accessible Beige – but the sample on my wall seems light and trim may not pop.
I have dark laminate floors and off white (very close to AB) couch and chairs and espresso wood. Any suggestions not too tan or gray?
Also, need a darker option for open concept kitchen to go with darker granite that is black and shades of brown/gold. Any ideas?
Hi Debbie,
Thank you! I’m so sorry about your experience with Perfect Greige. 🙁 Balanced Beige is definitely warmer and lighter in saturation than Perfect Greige. Paint a large white piece of cardboad (9×12) and move it around the room so you can get a good idea of how it will look in your space.
If you would like more detailed help with paint colors in other spaces, I would love to assist you with a Color Consultation. I can view your space and find the right color for your space to go with your selections.

Hi! All of our common rooms are Accessible Beige which we love. We like to go with a analogous color scheme with a few variations (our dining room is a bit darker). We are getting ready to paint our 2 boys’ bedrooms and we’d like to stick with the soothing neutral colors that will play nicely off the accessible beige in the hallway.
Bedroom one will be accented with navy and white fabrics, bronze metal bed, darker furniture. What color walls would you suggest for the bedroom and attached bathroom? We are comfortable painting these two rooms different neutral colors.
Bedroom two will be accented with black and white fabrics (no furniture as he’s still in a crib). What color walls would you suggest?
Hi Erica,
Thanks for reaching out! There are so many options of neutrals that could work, but I wouldn’t stray too far away from the Accessible Beige undertones to keep the flow. I would love to help you pick the perfect colors through an Interior Color Consultation! Here is the link for more information:

Hi there! My family room walls are Accessible Beige with Creamy trim. We will be purchasing new furniture and I’d like to incorporate some grey into the room. Keeping that in mind, what color would you suggest for the coffered ceiling? Thanks so much in advance!
Hi Brenda,
Thanks for reaching out! I personally like to keep ceilings very light and neutral. I would carry the same creamy trim color onto the ceiling to keep the feel simple and clean. You can add color and patterns in your drapery and upholstery fabrics to add some accents and contrast. 🙂 I would love to help with a Color Consultation if you need more help!
Thanks so much and have a great weekend!

Hi Laura
We are building our first home and are confused about the wall paints our builder has offered us. We have chosen shiitake kitchen cabinet colors and colonial white granite with abresque marble white back splash. Our fire place has leader stone and our living is open type with tall windows and high ceiling. Would accessible beige be a good fit? We have chosen the trip paints to be extra white. Do let me know what will work best we have other paint. Choices like Preston white, china doll, kimlim, agreeable grey, Dover white, divine white and softer tan as wall color options with our builder for the whole house. Thanks
Hi Ammu,
I would definitely stick to overall paint colors that have a taupe undertone since your cabinets are Shiitake. Accessible Beige is in that same undertone category, but it will not create much contrast against the Shiitake. I would love to help you find the perfect color with an Interior Color Consultation. Hello, what “white” do you recommend with accessible beige for the base boards, ceiling, doors etc. I am considering Kelly Moore’s Swiss Coffee, but thought to see if will be a good match. Our floors will be a cherry of sorts. Will this work?
Hi Mieke,
I would recommend more of a clean bright white or slight off-white to go with Accessible Beige. Test out KM Swiss Coffee next to your Accessible Beige walls and the cherry floors to see how it all looks together. I personally like the look of a brighter white with trim, but if you have other elements in your space (like granite, etc.) that have more of a creamy tone, then you may want to consider an off-white with those creamy tones.

Hi Laura! Our whole house is painted Accessible Beige, which I love, but we’re expecting a little girl soon and I’m wanting to just paint an accent wall in her room on the crib wall. Any suggestions on a complimentary color to go with the other walls of Accessible Beige? It by no means has to be in the pink category. I already read some of your other suggestions and wrote down to try Oyster Bay and Comfort Gray. Thanks!
Hi Jennifer,
I’m so sorry for my delayed reply! I was combing through my comments and realized that I missed yours somehow. I’m not sure if it’s too late, but I love the thought of using Oyster Bay or Comfort Gray. Let me know what you ended up deciding!
Thanks so much for reaching out,

Hi Laura, we have our living room and joined dining area painted in accessible beige which looks great. I want to have an accent wall in the dining area which gets enough light through the patio door. It has low ceilings, I’m leaning towards the blue color- open seas SW 6500 – would it be a good match? Also I want to paint the same color for an accent wall upstairs hallway which is little dark there. Could you please guide here? any suggestion would be a great help. Thank you very much!!
Hi Alpana,
I love Accessible Beige too! I’m glad you are happy with it. Open Seas can get a bit bright, but I also don’t know what other elements and colors you have going on in your home. I might go with a blue that is a bit more muted. I would love to help you pick that perfect shade for your accent wall through an Interior Color Consultation. Check you inbox for a coupon code!

Hi Laura,
I love your blog! We are leaning towards Accessible Beige too for the whole house. My cabinets are in cashew color (little brow and grey undertone). have some brazilin cherry wood floor in my dining and living area. My house is more north facing so lighting is not too good. Bedrooms are west facing. Do you think Accessible Beige will clash with cabinets? Trim will be either extra white or alabaster. Any preference? thanks for your advice.
Hi Karen,
Thank you! Accessible Beige is one of my favorite go-to neutrals. It definitely has a taupe undertone to it, so I would get a sample and test it out next to your cabinet color before making your final decision. I personally love Extra White for trim, but Alabaster is great too! If you need more help, please let me know if you are interested in an Interior Color Consultation. Hi Laura!
I love your blog! I am thinking of using Accessible Beige in the majority of my rooms, including the 2-story foyer, hallway, keeping room and kitchen. It is currently Believable Buff, which is too gold for my taste. I am trying to “update” the look of my home. I love the grey trend, but I have too much neutral beige/browns/taupes in my furnishings. My concern is that I had my kitchen cabinets and family room built-ins painted shoji white (which I loved) but the painter said I needed a poly-coat on top. Now that it’s been 2 years, my cabinets have a slightly yellow tint. I don’t love the yellow tint, but my husband doesn’t want to repaint (to me, they now have an antique white color. It’s not what I wanted, but I have to live with it for now). So my question is… what trim color would you recommend to go with the AB walls and shoji white w/ poly cabinets? I was looking at cloud white or white dove. Right now I have high-gloss white – which looks horrible (previous owner choice). I am afraid of anything looking yellow or pink. And the bright white that I have now does not look well with the cabinets Thank you for any help you can provide!!!
I should have also said that my family room (with the built-ins) is painted basket beige.
Hi Kelly,
I would try to go with an off-white that has a slight greige undertone to coordinate with the AB and to neutralize the poly-coat cabinets. I have several go-to white that could work, but would love to see pictures of your space and help you nail down the perfect color. Let me know if you would like help through an Interior Color Consultation!
Thanks, Kelly! I hope to hear from you soon,
Laura
We just purchased a new home that is all accessible beige with extra white trim. I would like to paint grey stripes on the lower half of a hallway wall under some molding. What would be a good light and medium grey color? Thanks for your help.
Hi Cathy,
I love Accessible Beige! Great choice. I would look on the same paint swatch as AB for a medium-toned color to use for the stripes. If you would like help finding the perfect shade for your accent stripes, I would love to help through an Interior Color Consultation.
Thanks for reaching out and I hope to hear from you soon!
Laura
Hi Laura,
We are wanting to update our home and are leaning towards using Accessible Beige as the main color throughout. Our home has a very open floor plan with the foyer, dining room and living room all being open together. Also, it is two story and the upstairs game room has a balcony that is entirely open to the living room, which means the living room has a valued ceiling that goes all the way up. The trim is a bright white. My question is what color would you recommend for the ceiling? Does the fact that it is vaulted change what we should do? We ere thinking of cutting the AB down by a certain percentage and using that on the ceiling but we aren’t sure! Thank you for any advice you can provide. Thanks!
Vicki
I have the same exact question about painting an angled ceiling. My house sounds exactly like yours. Would love to know the answer.
Hi Lynda,
Great question! Here is how I answered Vicki:
I typically stop the wall paint color at the point where the ceiling starts and slops. I love white ceilings to keep the open feel, but with vaulted ceilings, I like to do 50% of the wall color for the ceiling. It keeps a certain continuity and adds some color without it being too dark.
Let me know if I can help with anything else!
Laura

Hi Laura,
I’m building a home and have accessible beige as the wall color. After closing I would like to paint an accent wall in the master and thinking about Perfect Greige or Mega Greige, I’d also like darker doors and am considering Urbane Bronze. Trim is white. What do you think of that combo?
Karen
Hi Karen,
Accessible Beige is one of my favorite all-over paint colors and Mega Greige can definitely work as an accent wall. I also like the thought of the Urbane Bronze doors with white trim! You are on the right track! Try adding some color on the walls in places like bathrooms (like a soft blue-gray color) along with your accessories to add some interest.
Thank you for reaching out!

I have accessible beige in my split level foyer. I am looking for another color to paint my livingroom and hallway that connects to the foyer. I am tending to go toward a “gray” color that goes with this beige. Any suggestions. I am going to change the carpeting also and would like to to toward a gray color. I have had beige forever and looking to change.
Thank you.
Hi Barbara,
I can definitely help you find the right color through an Interior Color Consultation. That way, I can view pictures of your space and assess the other undertones in your interior selections. I do have a few thoughts and options for you depending on the other elements in your home.
I hope to hear from you soon. 🙂 Thank you so much for reaching out, Barbara!
Laura
I love Accessible Beige but find it too dark in a low light area. Would Natural Tan or Canvas Tan compliment Tony Taupe better as I want to use that on an accent wall. I will then use AB in the bedrooms.
Honestly, I think either could work. Natural Tan seems to have more of a taupe undertone, so I might go more towards it instead of the Canvas Tan. Grab a sample and test it out next to AB in your space and in your lighting. If you need further help, I would love to assist you through an Interior Color Consultation!
Thanks for reaching out,
Laura
Do you think Accessible beige is a timeless color? I have very high ceilings with lots of south facing windows. I have tried every popular gray and they look like concrete in my house. I painted one wall Accessible beige and it looks pretty good. See lots of gray during the day and beige at night. It’s a big deal to repaint with our tall ceilings. Do you think Accessible beige will stay a good color or do you see trends changing? My walls right now are very Tuscan looking…color called Totally Tan. Very cozy color but feeling outdated.
I have repainted the dinning room and office close to the main area both alabaster. I like the white but don’t think it would look good theoughtout our house. So…my questions…do you think accessible beige is a good color or do you see trends going light or dark?
Hi Tedra,
Great question! Accessible Beige is a color with taupe undertones that is one of my top go-to choices for a perfect in-between “not too gray, not too golden” color. Trends are always changing, but in my opinion, AB is one that will is pretty classic. The current trend is going towards black and white with the last trend being more gray/greige tones. Before that everything was Tuscan with more of the golds/browns.
Accessible Beige is not extreme on either end of the spectrum, so you should be safe with this color for a good long time. If you have tested it and it looks good on your walls, I say, “Go for it!!”
Let me know if I can help further through an Interior Color Consultation.
Thanks again for reaching out,

Thanks Laura,
I now am having a super hard time deciding between revere pewter and accessible beige. Wish you lived in Tulsa to help me. My room get a lot of natural light and I just can’t decide.

The exterior of my house is accessible biege with white trim and black shutters and roof. I want to paint my front door. Had thought of trying a red but I’m struggling. Help.
Hi Monica,
Red would be pretty! I have a few favorites that I can recommend. I would love to help through an Exterior Color Consultation “Front Door” package.
Let me know if you are interested! Thanks for reaching out and have a great weekend!
Laura
I love accessible beige but feel its too light. Have you ever used AB at 125% or 150%? How did it turn out? Looking to use it as a whole downstairs and stairway color. Balanced beige is too dark and sherwin williams guy said balanced beige is 200% of accessible beige. I got a sample of ab at 150% but worried it will be too dark. Any experience with this or recommendations? Im pretty set on some shade of AB.
Hi Bin,
I haven’t used Accessible Beige at 125% before, but you could have a sample made up and see how it looks. Also, keep in mind that Accessible Beige will look a bit different once you paint all of the walls with a few coats and even though it looks light in the sample, it could be right on once it’s on all of the walls. In short, I would try the sample of AB at 125% and then see what you think. If it isn’t right, I would stay open to using AB on all walls. Best wishes on your painting!
Thanks so much for reaching out,
Laura
Thanks for the response Laura! Love your site! So guess what?! I got accessible beige and painted my stairwell. Too light! I then got it at 150% and painted my little downstairs half bathroom. Too light. Then I painted my entry way balanced beige. Still too light!!! Yes, too light!! Haha. I know Im a darker color lover and was trying to go
light but balanced beige almost looks yellow/greeb/super light tan/light grey in my space. Im ready to start all over even though I was hoping to love this color as much as
everyone else. Any other
recommendations for a rich, mostly brown with a hint of grey?? I have light laminate (yellowish) in the room. I just love love love warm colors! Yellows, reds, etc.
Hi Bin,
Thanks so much! I would love to help through an Interior Color Consultation to find the perfect color for your space.
Let me know if you are interested! Thanks again for reaching out.
Laura
Have you ever tried accesible beige at 75% or 50%? I think accesible beige looks dark in my space. I like the color, but I need something lighter keeping the tape / gray undertones.
Hi Paulina,
I haven’t tried AB at 75% or 50% before. It is worth a try if they will mix you up a sample! There are a few other lighter taupe colors that could work if the sample doesn’t turn out as light as you need. Let me know if I can help through an Interior Color Consultation!
Thanks so much for reaching out,
Laura
Hi Laura,
I am considering accessible beige or worldly gray for repainting my walls and updating my living space. However I have a north facing home so limited natural light as well as a screened porch in the back (further limiting natural light). Do you think either AB or WB will work without being too washed out and dark? Maybe lighten 50%? Any suggestions or other paint colors are greatly appreciated.
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
Either could work for your space, but I would get a sample of both and see how they look at all of the different times of day with your lighting first. I suggest painting a large white cardboard (11×17 size) and paint samples of each. That way you can move them around the room at different times of the day to see how they look.
Accessible Beige has more of a warm taupe undertone and Worldly Gray is a gray/greige with a cooler undertone. Testing the colors will also help you determine which undertone will work best for your space and your fixed elements (flooring, etc.)
Let me know if I can help you narrow it down through an Interior Color Consultation! I would love to be of assistance. 🙂
Thanks so much for reaching out,
Laura
Hi Laura we are in the middle of updating our home. A local interior decorator suggested I put chocolate brown on one wall in The living room ( this wall has white fireplace mantel) she said this way my dining table and hutch would pop (they are in a honey oak) and on the other walls she suggested mustard yellow and a lighter yellow. I could not do the yellow but gave the chocolate brown a try. Struggling with a paint that would compliment the brown the interior decorator told me to pick another paint colour out of other colours I liked. In a panic struggling what to choose I chose Shaker beige. The beige now looks very yellow and I am finding the chocolate brown absolutely awful and depressing. I asked her to come and look at the yellow undertones of the beige twice and she has not responded. I wanted a combination of light and warm in my space with a light enough paint that would showcase art and any other pops of colour. Can you please suggest a very light nuetral warm beige. My living room is north facing and has big windows.
Hi Catherine,
I’m so sorry for your color troubles. That can be so stressful! I would really love to help you find the right color for your space! Are you open to an Interior Color Consultation? That is the best way for me to view your space and find the right colors to coordinate with the current undertones in your home. My one room consult starts at $50 and $75 for an open layout.
I really hope to hear from you! I want to make your space updated and beautiful for you.
Sincerely,
Laura
Sherwin Williams recommends Cadet as an accent to Acessible Beige. It looks grey on the card and the sample can but looks blue on the walls next to AB. We like the idea of going with something that can work with grey or brown in the room. Cadet might be a little overpowering? Any other suggestions on an accent wall? Family room with open ceilings, lots of windows and white plantation shutters. Thank you!!
Hi Amy,
Cadet is definitely a blue-gray, but it is a great color to go with Accessible Beige. It can go with grays or browns in the space since your main color is Accessible Beige (a warmer taupe color). If you have tall ceilings and lots of light, Cadet would work really well without being too overpowering. I do always suggest making a large painted cardboard sample first to be sure you love the color in your space!
Let me know if I can help further through an Interior Color Consultation!
Thanks for reaching out and Happy Holidays,
Laura
Thank you so much for the response and for taking time out of your day. We are thinking we will go with something less dramatic and pair the Acessible Beige with a Perfect Greige accent. Happy Holidays to you, and thank you again!
Hi Amy,
You are so welcome! Sounds like a good plan. 🙂 Happy Holidays to you!
Laura
Hello there!!! sooooo…. ok, need you. my last paint job of the entire first floor was a ben.moore paint, philadelphia cream. the house SCREAMS a creamy yellow. absolutely terrible to say the least, lol. now 8 years later we can afford to repaint down here. We can across this accessible beige and it looks like it might work! my question is, can i do the open (two story) foyer and family room both the same color? and then bring that color into the kitchen in the bottom half under the chair rail? does that work? also, since my foyer is big and open with a large window on the open second floor… do you suggest a beige shade thats a tad bit darker than the accessible beige but would still compliment the accessible beige? I’m so scared to get another paint job that ends up looking yellow …. Thanks in advance for any input you can give. xoxo
Hi Kelly,
I’m so sorry that your last paint project didn’t turn out the way that you intended. It can be challenging to find the right color for your space. I would love to help you find the perfect color for your home so that you can avoid having another disappointing result. I do like Accessible Beige, but it would be helpful to me to see the current selections in your home to assess if this is the best color for you.
Let me know if I can help through an Interior Color Consultation. My prices are very reasonable considering the cost of painting and repainting if you aren’t happy with your color!
Thank you for reaching out, Kelly! I hope to hear from you,
Laura
Hi there!
We are renovating our home right now and I am looking for paint colors for a farmhouse style with woods and whitewashes and a milk chocolate color couch (we can’t afford a new couch right now) I was wondering if accessible beige would work with white trim/baseboards and a white ceiling and needed to find a good color for 2 accent walls. Our living room and dining room are all open to each other (small house) we did the kitchen silverstrand and I think I want to do the dining room canvas tan and the living room area accessible beige with 2 darker accent walls I was thinking perfect griege or tony taupe what are your thoughts ? Or if you have another good accent color wall for accessible beige
Hi Lindsay,
I love Accessible Beige and it sounds like it will work well with your selections. Silver Strand is a great color to use with AB! Tony Taupe would work as an accent wall since it is a few shades darker than Accessible Beige. Perfect Greige has a bit of a purple undertone, so I would stick with Tony Taupe. Let me know if you would like further help through an Interior Color Consultation. I would love to nail down the perfect colors for your spaces. 🙂
Thanks for reaching out, Lindsay!
Laura
Hi Laura,
Love your site! I have accessible beige painted in open split level large town house for the main areas in the foyer, stairs, and halls. Our basement flooded from a neighbor and we are thinking of repainting the open basement, can be seen from the front door. Right now it is it mustard yellow and black trim. The furniture is light to mid brown.. First contemplation – I was thinking of painting the trim and doors white but have read that black is coming back in. Second – the floors will be replaced with maple red undertones. Right now they don’t match the rest of the house. The basement is long, with a a bump out, fireplace that I could paint the trim a different color, and a guest bedroom as well. What color do you recommend? Keep the trim or change?
We also used riverway on the fireplace accent wall to compliment the accessible beige in a sitting rom next to our kitchen. It looks great but now the bump out in the kitchen with the audubon russet looks like it competes. Would you recommend painting accessible beige, a darker tone? If I change should I change all the audubon russet? Our painter is offering a good price if we do everything at once – so a project that was not in my to do list is and appreciate you being available.
Hi Courtney,
Thank you!! That is definitely a lot to consider! First, white trim will never go out of style. Black is the current up and coming trend, but the main question to ask yourself is if you think you will get tired of the black in a few years. White also looks beautiful next to Accessible Beige. As for the other major changes, I would love to help you finalize all of the colors through an Interior Color Consultation. That way I can view pictures of your space and recommend the right colors, especially while you have a good deal through a painter!! You won’t regret getting it right the first time!
I hope to hear from you soon! Thanks so much for reaching out,
Laura
Hi, I love your site! I am planning to use Accessible Beige through most of my house, but I would like a few rooms (laundry/bathrooms) to be a light blue. How do you feel about Topsail? If not, do you have another light blue you would recommend?
Thank you!
Hi Kerri,
Thanks so much! Topsail could work, but it could definitely work. I have a few other blues that have some different undertones to them if you need another option. It will depend on your other fixed elements (tile, cabinets, countertops, etc.). Let me know if I can help through an Interior Color Consultation!
Thank you for reaching out,
Laura
Would SW enigma go well
Paired with accessible beige? Accessible beige seems to have a Greige color to it but not sure if it would work well with the enigma.
Hi Karen,
Thanks for reaching out! Yes, Enigma would pair well with Accessible Beige. Since AB is a neutral color with a taupe-greige undertone (you are right!), it will coordinate well with the mauve/plum undertones in the Enigma. I would love to see the finished results in your interior!
Thanks, Karen! Have a great week,
Laura
I have dark chocolate cabinets, tile that looks like wood floors with Browns n greys in it, white trim and woul$ like to know if you think accessible beige could work with that. Have you found this color goes okay with java gel (dark chocolate) cabinets? All my furniture is wood tones o& man6 shades also. Thank you!
Hi Di,
Yes, AB definitely works well with chocolate stained cabinets. It’s a warmer neutral and goes well with the java furniture and cabinets.
Thanks so much for reaching out,
Laura
I do have SW Dover White kitchen cabinets and small island, raw Oak round table, Vinyl floor are mixed dull brown and grey rectangle, silver stainless appliances, different colors “Italian” back splash similar morocco and most colors are blue. Which is Accessible Beige or Agreeable Gray goes with Dover White color?
My hallway is Repose Gray.
Thanks
Hazel
Hi Hazel,
I would go with Accessible Beige since Dover White has a warmer undertone. Agreeable Gray is still a warm neutral greige, but AB is a bit warmer. Let me know how your project turns out!!
Thanks so much,
Laura
Hi Laura, thanks for this informative post! When we moved in our kitchen was painted a strange medium blue with light blue cabinets and blue pearl granite (black with blue and opal specks). It was dark and horrible. I painted the walls Accessible Beige which lightened it up wonderfully but its time to tackle the cabinets. What color do you usually suggest for cabinets against Accessible Beige walls? I really didnt want to paint them white since it seems a recipe for smudges but I think I might need to go light in order to keep my kitchen bright.
Hi Sarah,
I’m glad that Accessible Beige has worked out well for you! I would paint your cabinets a creamy white to go with AB and your current selections. If you paint them right, smudges can be wiped away. I have white cabinets and have been able to keep them clean by wiping them down if I need to. They honestly don’t get as dirty as I thought they would!
All that being said, try Alabaster for a cabinet color to coordinate with Accessible Beige. If you are still having trouble or need more direction, I would love to help through an Interior Color Consultation:
https://www.rughdesign.com/product/interior-color-consultation/
Keep me posted on everything! Thanks so much,
Laura
Thanks so much! I’ll add Alabaster to my list of swatches to pick up tmw (I also have Aesthetic White and Creamy on there). I am not looking forward to all the work but I am so ready to love my kitchen.
Alabaster is the definite superior choice. Thank you so much for suggesting it!
Yay! I’m so glad!!
Hi,
We are building a single level home in ID. Our lot has a lot of tall trees. We have knotty alder wood kitchen cabinets in a medium dark brown stain. We’ve chosen a wood laminate floor, just a bit lighter than the cabinets. We would like to try Accessible Beige, but I’m afraid it may be too dark. It’s an open concept A frame where the living and kitchen are all one room. We chose Extra White for the ceiling color. I haven’t picked a color to “pop” yet. Don’t know if I want to go with reds, greens, or blues. Sofa and entertainment center (with barn doors) will be darker as well. Any suggestions?
Hi Anna,
It sounds like Accessible Beige would be a great color! In my experience it comes out looking very soft and pretty, not super dark at all. If you ceilings are Extra White, that will also help to create an open feel. If you are still having trouble, I would love to help you find the right overall color, along with accent colors through an Interior Color Consultation:

Hi, Laura. We are building a new house and we have to choose only one interior color. It’s a craftsman with an open floor plan.we nave medium dark wood cabinets, white granite countertops and medium dark woodflooring downstairs, black cabinets in the master bath and maple cabinets in the children’s bath. We are informal people and want our to be warm and welcoming. Worldly Grey was our first choice but would Accessible Beige be better? Eventually we’ll repaint the bedrooms, but I don’t want to repaint the high stairwell so I need a color I can live with for years.. Help!
Hi Ellen,
If you like the warmer neutrals, then I would go with Accessible Beige. It’s warmer than Worldly Gray and will look very rich with the medium dark wood cabinets and flooring. Accessible Beige is also not one of the “trendy grays” that will go out in a few years. I would go with AB!
Thank you for reaching out,
Laura
Hello,
I am thinking of painting my Northwest facingteenage boy’s room accessible beige, but would like to add some color. Do you think a accent wall in soft orange or yellow would work? Any suggestions?
Hi Anna,
I love Accessible Beige! If it’s for your teenage boy’s room, I suggest going with a brighter orange to make a statement and add more contrast against the Accessible Beige. Let me know if you would like help finding a specific color through a Consultation.
Thank you for reaching out!
Laura
Hi!
I have Accessible Beige throughout my entire home with Snowboard white trim.Contractor picked color) I have very dark floors and Java stained kitchen cabinets. No direct sunlight due to overhangs. I need to lighten up kitchen cabinetry without going “white” and I was looking at Arsthetic white with a Brown glaze. Do you have a better color in mind??? ❤️
Hi Michele,
Thanks for reaching out! Aesthetic White with a brown glaze would be a perfect way to lighten up your kitchen cabinets. Aesthetic White is one shade lighter than Accessible Beige so it will coordinate with your current color scheme. Keep me posted and let me know how everything turns out!
Laura
Hello!!
I’m coloring my walls in SW creamy and my kitchen cabinets in accessible beige. I have a sparkling white quartz countertop but I’m stuck with what color backsplash i should use that would bring these colors together. I was thinking a light grey subway tile? Thoughts?! Also, my master bath is colored in Intuitive and in need to find a color for the cabinets in that room. I’m thinking Spalding grey. I’d really appreciate all your input and appreciate your time. Thanks!
Bianca
Hi Bianca,
Sounds pretty! I would consider going with a white subway tile (or other white tile) to accentuate your white quartz countertop and to not compete with the wall or cabinet color. It’s also a clean and classic choice that will go a long way, including resale.
For the master bath, I would go with a darker gray with less of a greige undertone. Let me know if I can help find the right color through a Color Consultation. Thanks so much for reaching out!
Laura
Hi Laura, looking to refresh and update the wall color (Ivoire SW) in the main living areas of our home. With that being said I need a color that would still go with existing granite and kitchen cabinet. Our granite is pretty standard with the cream, brown tone and cabinets are cherry and warm cherry stain. Would accessible beige or agreeable grey work? If both would work, which one more so? I am looking for a greige that would not clash with existing warm color palette. Thanks
Hi Ann,
I tend to go with warm greige colors in situations like yours. Accessible Beige is warmer than Agreeable Gray, so I would test out a sample and go in that direction to update your current warmer selections. Let me know if you need more help through a Color Consultation!
Thanks for reaching out,
Laura
I’m repainting the interior of my house for sale. The house does not get much natural light, so I do not want dark colors. All the trim and cabinets in the house and ceiling are white. I have decided to use Accessible Beige for the open living/dining/kitchen area. What colors would be good for the bedrooms and bathrooms that also go with Accessible Beige? I’m looking for specific colors that will appeal to the most buyers. Thanks!
Hi again Laura,
It turns out that Accessible Beige is too dark in house! What lighter colors are similar to it? What lighter colors would be good for the bedrooms and bathrooms?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Kim
Hi Kim,
I would see if you can have Accessible Beige mixed at 50%. If you are selling, you may consider painting the whole house the same color if you are going for neutrals. Or use the full strength Accessible Beige in bedrooms and bathrooms or one shade darker than AB.
If I can help further through a Color Consultation, let me know!
Thanks so much,
Laura
Hi Kim,
I love Accessible Beige! My favorite colors to pair with AB are blue-greens. If you are trying to keep things neutral, try one shade darker than Accessible Beige for a contrasting neutral. Let me know if I can help further through a Color Consultation!
Thanks so much for reaching out,
Laura
Hi Laura,
Love your blog! We are painting our halls accessible beige and would like a medium blue in the adjoining laundry room. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Cathy
Hi Cathy,
Try Interesting Aqua for a medium blue in the laundry room! It is a very pretty medium blue and works well with Accessible Beige. Keep me posted on what you decide!
Thanks so much,
Laura
Hi Sadie,
Thanks so much for reaching out! Accessible Beige could work, but I also have a few other paint colors options that I love to tone down and compliment stained wood. I would love to help you find the right color through a Color Consultation!
Hope to hear from you,
Laura
Hi Mary,
I would look for a darker gray with a slight blue undertone to compliment Accessible Beige and help tone down the oak cabinets. I have a few go-tos that I love and can help you find the right one through a Color Consultation!
Thanks so much for reaching out,
Laura
Hello,
I am looking for a neutral color best suited for medium wood trim and black distressed kite hen cabinets. I have an open floor plan in kitchen and living room that faces north west. Only light in small living room is sliding glass doors, which leaves out to overhang porch. current color is the mustardish yellow from about 10 years ago (what was I thinking?). It actually worked well with the distressed areas in the cabinets as well as bring out the wood and bring it all together. What are your thoughts on accessible beige? I think the LVR is good, but not sure if it will cast a gray tone because of the lighting situation. I have sandbar in my hallway and I like it, but it appears dark with no light. My last thought is white duck, but not sure of the high LVR would be too much of a contrast with the dark wood and cabinets. Your thoughts? Thanks, Stacey
Hi Stacey!
Thank you for your comment. I would love to help you pick a color to pair with your kitchen cabinets. However it sounds like you are in need of more than I can offer by responding to your comment.
Please check out my Interior Color Consultation packages in my shop and select a 1 Room consult.
I would love to be your color consultant!
I am looking for a light warm neutral beige/ tan color for the exterior body of my home. My door is a Mojave tan color that I would say looks like a reddish brown. I was considering Kilim Beige but am afraid I may see pink undertones. I also was considering Accessible beige or Malabar by SW but would love help choosing the right soft white trim color. Many thanks for your input! Michelle
Hi Michelle,
Thanks so much for reaching out! Exteriors can be tricky because the colors automatically get lighter in natural daylight. Accessible Beige is a lovely exterior color, but it is a bit more taupe. Test out a sample and see how it looks next to your front door and your other fixed elements. You may need more of a beige/tan and Malabar fits that description! If Malabar gets too light, you can go one shade darker. Look for an off-white that has a slight beige undertone. On your exterior, it will come out looking like a soft white. Let me know how it’s going as you test colors. I would love to hear how everything turns out!
Thank you,
Laura
We have chosen accessible beige for our west facing foyer and stairway and think it would work well. I am contemplating lightening it by 25% but am afraid it will mess with the tone and hue of the paint too much. Can you suggest a color that is pretty much accessible beige but about 25% lighter? Thanks so much!
Hi Sarah!

Hi! I was hoping you could steer me in the right direction with picking out a blue color for our basement bathroom that adjoins to our “man/kid cave.” This area is painted accessible beige. Thank you!

Hi Laura, I just built a home with an open floor plan with coffered ceiling in the family room. The walls are painted Accessible Beige. What color would you suggest for the coffered ceiling? I plan on putting up white molding but I am not sure if AB on the walls and ceiling will make it feel too dark, closed in. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi! I love the colors you put together and wanted to get your perspective on some painting I am thinking about doing. I was thinking of painting my walls accessible grey (leaving the white trim) and my kitchen cabinets granite peak blue. Most of the downstairs has a dark hardwood but part of the kitchen has a light grey laminate flooring. In your opinion, would those beige and blue shades go well together? And would they look okay with a light grey floor? Thanks!!
Hi Rebekah,
Thanks so much for reaching out! Accessible Beige and Granite Peak will go great together for sure! I often pair AB with blues as accent colors. If the gray floors have some warmth to them, like more of a greige, they should go just fine with Accessible Beige. I would have to see a picture of it to tell you with absolute certainty. I do think you can mix in greiges, grays and blues for a beautiful color scheme!
Keep me posted on what you decide!
Laura
