I love this color and want to paint the interior of our house. But I am not sure if it will be too dark for some of the areas in the house. The living areas have lots of windows and are open and bright, but will this color make the house too dark?

      Hi Nicolette,

If you are able, I would recommend putting up some large sample areas in your home to see how it will look in the light during different times of the day. You can paint the samples directly on the wall or on big pieces of cardboard and pin them up. Sometimes colors can look dark on the swatch and in your home lighting be totally fine. It just depends on your space! I would test it out to see. If it feels too dark for your liking, use it for some accent walls or underneath trim (like a chair rail). Let me know how it works out and if you need further assistance, please feel free to Color Consultation.

What colour would you recommend to go with the taupe tone that is lighter. We are using taupe tone for a accent wall but want lighter for the others. Not sure if accessible beige would be good,

      Hi there,

Accessible Beige is definitely an option! Also, try Modern Gray, it would look good next to Taupe Taupe as well. I will update this page soon for more color scheme combos! Thank you!

      Hi Nancy,

The undertones of Taupe Taupe are more brown than gray. It’s a great warm taupe neutral to try if you are looking for something like it in you home. The best way to test it out, is to get a sample and see how it looks in all the different lights of day in your space.

    Hello,
I’m prepping to paint the exterior of my house which is currently faded chaulky green, green doors, green shutters…perfect to camouflage with the green grass and green forest backdrop lol. It’s time!!! (So much anxiety!) I have a 3 tone brick (dark red and 2 shades of brown) and was thinking of painting the majority of my siding Taupe Tone. I live in South Carolina. Sun and the elements can be rather harsh. I didn’t want to go too dark as I feel the color would fade quickly, but I also didn’t want to go too light for reflection reasons. I have triangular peaks on the second floor where the roof is and was planning on painting those Foothills. Columns, wood railings, trim and ceilings in Pure White. Shutters in Tricorn Black to match my black metal stair railings, porch lights and door hardware. I want to stain my porch dark brown to tie in the brick browns and Foothills and throw in a pop of Intense Teal for my front door. Is the teal a good or bad idea???

      Hi Jennifer,

I love the idea of teal for your door! It would bring a pop of fun color to your neutral palette and add some pizzaz. I would love to see a picture when you finish!

Thanks so much for reaching out,

Hello – I’m about to paint my kitchen and an accent wall in my dining / living room with Taupe Tone. These rooms will be right next to a 4-seasons sunroom that is already painted in Balanced Beige. Do you think Taupe Tone & Balanced Beige will compliment each other? Also, I was thinking of painting the remaining walls in the dining / living room with Aesthetic White since it is a coordinating color of both Taupe Tone & Balanced Beige. Do you think these three colors will compliment each other?

      Hi Shawna,

Yes, since Taupe Tone and Balanced Beige both have taupe undertones, they will work well together. Aesthetic White also works for the same reason, it’s just a lot lighter and would be a good all-over paint color (like you mentioned). Great job! I would love to hear how everything turns out.

      Thanks for reaching out,

      Hi Kesha,

Tony Taupe might be a bit dark for a hallway, but try a sample out to see how it looks first!

      Thanks so much,

HI! We painted the exterior or our Arizona home Taupe Tone. Looking for a “pop” of color on the door. Nothing dark because it will look like a hole. I keep leaning towards SW0056 – classic sand, but fear it will not be enough.

      Hi Danijela,

I would try going with a bright white door. I love the contrast of white against the taupe colors. If you seal it right, it will last and be very pretty! If white isn’t your cup of tea, try a super light beige off-white.

Hi Laura, I am about to paint the exterior of my house either taupe tone or keystone gray. There are two gables with cedar shakes that have a Cabot stain called Jarrah Brown. The front door is stained Australian Timber Oil Mahogany Flame. The metal roof is a taupe or gray color. I plan to leave the shakes and doors the color they are. Would keystone gray or taupe tone work best? And what trim colors would be best with them?
    Thank you,
    Twila

I love this color. I’m actually thinking of using it on the ceiling of my large, windowed living room, for a “cozy” feeling and to show off the crown moulding. My question is what to use on the walls… Can I use the same color, but have it lightened a couple of shades? Thank you!

      Hi Lisa,

I would lighten the wall color a shade or two so it doesn’t feel too dark. Keep me posted on what you decide!

    Hi,

I SW Chateau Brown a good combination to go with SW Tavern Taupe? The Chateau will be painted all around the house and on the front with Tavern Taupe as the accent color on the front. If this choice is Ok, what door color would look good with these browns?

    Thanks
