The Rugh Design Color Wheel
To recap, we have been working on adding ALL of the Sherwin-Williams paint colors to the Rugh Design Color Wheel. We plan to have all 1700 colors up by the end of 2018 and each week we will release 25 new colors with my hand picked color schemes. In addition to the new 25 colors a week I will hightlight 1 color from Sherwin-Williams that I personally love or stands out.
Recently, we have highlighted Perfect Greige (warm greige with slight mauve undertone), Antique White (warm off-white with yellow-beige undertone) Pussywillow (gray with slight blue undertone) and Kilim Beige (coffee with cream color).
Going forward you can find all of our Color Wheel Update posts here.
Featured Color: Navajo White SW 6126
I just finished writing a long post highlighting the best Sherwin-Williams whites that included several of the whites that I have outlined in my “Color Wheel Update” mini posts. In the post, I detail out the main white categories starting with the base “true white” color (Extra White): cool whites, greige whites and warm whites. This week, I wanted to focus on a white that I actually didn’t include in my post, but am very curious to do more research on: Navajo White.
The main reason that I haven’t used Navajo White as much is because most of my clients are looking for brighter whites or whites that have more of a greige undertone to help in the transition of their home away from the warmer brown/Tuscan look and more towards a fresh update. That being said, we may start seeing interiors leaning back towards more of the warmer tones at some point so I am open to exploring more of the warm whites to have in my back pocket as options.
Another reason that I haven’t looked into Navajo White is that I have my go-to warm whites that I use the most. Antique White tends to be my go-to for a warm white in spaces that need a trim or cabinet paint that is warmer but not too yellow in the undertone. However, Navajo White is a beautiful warm white that has even more yellow in it’s undertone and is a great color choice for a wall color in spaces where a soft yellow color is desired. It is actually one shade lighter than Ivoire SW 6127 a beautiful buttery yellow color.
Okay, now that you have a basis for Navajo White, check out my Pinterest gallery for some inspiration. See below and let me know which one you like the most. If you have your own pictures, send them to me and I will post them! Also, check the Navajo White color scheme page for my hand pick color schemes!
Where to use Navajo White SW 6126
I love that Navajo White is a bit more yellow in tone than Antique White, but is still creamy enough to not look too glaringly yellow in spaces that need a subtle touch of a warm color. The picture below is a perfect example! Navajo White comes out as a creamy warm yellow that looks amazing paired with bright white trim.
Since Navajo White has a yellow undertone it pairs well with cooler colors like blues, pictured here in this bedroom. I also like the idea of using Navajo White in a kitchen with fresh white cabinets for a happy and bright feel. Pretty much any room in the house can get a sunny touch from Navajo White!
One more color scheme idea for Navajo White is pairing it with a medium toned gray. Again, the warm and cool colors compliment each other nicely and keep the Navajo White from feeling too warm and bright. I love the thought of using Navajo White on the walls in a bedroom with gray accents for the bedding and drapery.
Now that you have a good idea of possible interior color schemes for Navajo White, I also wanted to showcase an exterior inspiration picture. As I always mention, colors on exteriors get significantly lighter. So, think of Navajo White as more of a cream on exteriors. Navajo White works well as a main body color with darker trim accent colors or as a trim color with a darker main body color.

The Best of the Rest
Navajo White had the spotlight, but I also wanted to highlight a color from the Color Wheel update, Ravishing Coral SW 6612. This is a bright and happy coral color that would actually go well with Navajo White! I like the idea of painting a laundry room, kid’s bedroom or even furniture in Ravishing Coral. I love the unique cabinet pictured below painted in Ravishing Coral!
