In the Mood with Quietude
This month’s featured color is Quietude, a favorite accent color, that has a nice blue-green undertone with a slight hint of gray in it to keep it from feeling too bright. Yes, blue again!!! Can’t stop. Won’t stop. Blue is taking color trends by storm and I’m totally fine with it!!
Quick Navigation
Technically, Quietude is found in the “green” section of the Sherwin-Williams deck. It’s a tricky color because it can look blue in some lighting and more green in other lighting. This color is a color chameleon of sorts and that is why I am taking some liberty and calling it a blue!

Even though we have completed the Color Wheel, that doesn’t mean I’m gonna stop highlighting colors! There are so many other colors that I haven’t written about that deserve some time in the spotlight. I hope to spotlight at least 1 Sherwin-Williams color each month. So reach out and let me know which color you want to see next!

There are over 1700 colors and each color has 4 schemes for you to explore using in your space.
Quietude SW 6212 Review
Quietude has been a favorite of mine since my in-laws kitchen reno about 7 years ago. As I sat down to help my MIL narrow down and finalize her selections (with my first baby girl in tow), she knew we wanted a pop of color on her kitchen island. Guess what we decided?
Not only did we end up doing the island in Quietude, but we added a pop of color in the back of her open cabinet/shelf design. Blue is a favorite color of hers and on woodwork, Quietude turns more blue and so we were super happy with the result.
Quietude Essentials
Below I will answer some frequently asked questions about Quietude. Keep reading to find out where and how I suggest to use Quietude.
Now that you have a basis for Quietude and my color schemes, check out my Pinterest gallery for some inspiration. See below and let me know which one you like the most. If you have your own pictures, send them to me and I will post them!
Where to use Quietude
Kitchen islands don’t get to have all of the fun with this color! Bedrooms, bathrooms and office spaces are perfect spaces to use this mood-inspiring “quiet” blue-green. Let’s check out the bedroom first...
Quietude in the Bedroom
I always love blue, but I especially love blue in the bedroom. I had a color very similar to Quietude in my bedroom at my last home and it was very dreamy. For real, I always felt like I was on vacation in the Carribeans with this shade. Take some cues from the bedroom pictured below and run, don’t walk to your closest SW store and get going painting your bedroom in this serene color!

This bedroom has a creamy-white headboard and soft bedding to keep the soothing vibe going strong. I love the pop of darker blue colors and gray in the canvas art above the bed. I am a huge fan of pairing whites with blue, so this room was right on target for me!
Quietude in the Office
Who wouldn’t want to feel more relaxed in a home office? This beach house has an amazing office in Quietude and I’m in love. I always work better when my mind is at ease and not anxious with all of the thoughts in my head. There is a reason it is called “Quiet” tude and this color takes stress down a notch.

I like how the office pictured adds a sandy neutral color for the window shades and the rustic desk. The white trim and comfy office chair further complete the crisp and clean beach feel. You can recreate this beach office in any home in the country for a gorgeous and serene space to work.
Quietude for an Accent Wall
A few years ago, we set up shop in our garage to paint real schemes to make a video and post on. Quietude was one of our key accent colors for my Balanced Beige Review. One of my favorite things about Quietude is that it works so well with neutral colors. Balanced Beige has a taupe undertone, but other neutrals that are more beige (like Nomadic Desert) also work well with Quietude.

Quietude as an accent with Balanced Beige
As you can see above, I paired our spa like color with Balanced Beige, and utilized one of my brown bird-patterned armchairs to tie the scheme together. I actually bought this chair (along with its twin), at a resale shop and had them recovered. I loved how the blue, taupe and brown came together for a warm and cozy yet soothing feel. This is a great way to bring in a pop of color to your home if you have mostly neutrals going on!
Quietude on Exteriors
Quietude as a exterior paint color makes my heart skip a beat. I am a beach girl so anything that reminds me of the beach makes me happy. Probably why I love soft blues so much… This house pictured below is actually in Colorado, but it could be anywhere!

Not only does Quietude work well for a main body color, but I love it as a front door color too. It is similar to Drizzle, a color that I featured on my Front Door Post, but a tiny bit softer. Either way you spin it, get some blue on your exterior asap!
Wrapping up Quietude
Quietude is topping the Rugh Design fav blues chart, so jump on the wagon and test it out in your own home. The best way to find out if this or any color is right for your space, is to grab a Peel & Stick Paint Sample and test it out. The paint samples are handed painted with 2 coats of the real Sherwin-Williams color and are perfect for sampling color before you take the dive into gallons of paint.

Hi Laura,
I love this color, we actually have it in a bedroom in our current house. I would love it in our new house also. Right now everything is accessible beige with white trim. Will it flow well with the accessible beige that would be in the adjacent rooms?
Hi Cathy,
Great question! Yes, Accessible Beige and Quietude compliment each other nicely. In fact, I often pair AB and Quietude together when thinking through a color scheme for an entire home. Accessible Beige has a warm taupe undertone and it works well with the blue-green undertone in Quietude. I am actually considering Quietude for my own bedroom! It is such a soothing color that transforms a bedroom into an instant retreat. I just completed added a video to the Color Review if you would like to view it!
Keep me posted and send me some pictures when you are finished!
