Greek Villa and the color wheel
This week, I wanted to focus on one of the colors that is actually on the Color Wheel, Greek Villa Sherwin-Williams 7551. Just for a quick recap, we have been working on adding ALL of the Sherwin-Williams paint colors to the Rugh Design Color Wheel. So as the process continues, I wanted to highlight a color per week that stands out.
Quick Navigation
So far, we have highlighted Drizzle (a beautiful green-blue color that will have you dreaming of the ocean in no time), Keystone Gray (a medium toned warm neutral “greige”) and Urbane Bronze, a darker gray with a slight brown/bronze undertone.

Greek Villa Review
Greek Villa SW 7551 is a beautiful and soft off-white color that transforms spaces into “magazine-worthy” sophisticated interiors. I would describe this color as a subtle creamy off-white that has a slight (very slight) beige undertone. Honestly, it really comes out looking very white/creamy and not yellow-y at all, which I know is a concern for many. Think Greek columns of old, or a villa on the Greek coastline...maybe that is why they named it that??
Not only is Greek Villa one of the most popular off-whites, I love how versatile it is. Use this color for trim, cabinets and main walls for interiors or anywhere outside as it looks just as gorgeous on exteriors.

Where to use Greek Villa
Like I mentioned, with Greek Villa Sherwin-Williams has created a versatile and neutral paint color that can be used in a variety of spaces. Use it as a trim color with a more saturated wall color to create some contrast. Or use it as the main wall color and trim color to create a fresh and clean palette. Greek Villa is a perfect color for kitchen cabinets if you are looking for a creamy off-white versus a super bright white.

Greek Villa in Bedrooms
Looking for a soft and peaceful bedroom? Greek Villa accomplishes this goal and more as a peaceful and relaxing backdrop for a bedroom retreat. I especially love the more monochromatic aesthetic in this space with the drapes and bedding to keep the vibe calm and soothing yet oh so inviting.

Greek Villa in Main Living Area
Greek Villa works beautifully in the below space as an overall main neutral wall color to allow the accessories and patterns be the star of the show. Consider this color for your main wall color to showcase collectables, warm wood tones, brighter sofa colors and patterns in fabrics.

Greek Villa as an accent wall
Greek Villa is perfect to use as a backdrop for brighter pops of color and accents. But I also love that you can keep the feel of a monochromatic scheme by using it as both the wall color and trim color. Below is my favorite use of Greek Villa in an interior for a more muted neutral look.

Greek Villa as an exterior paint color
Greek Villa is also lovely on exteriors! Use it as the main body color with darker trim and accents. Or as the trim color with a contrast for the main body color. Disclaimer: Because of the abundance of natural light this color will look even lighter and even more white on an exterior. Therefore, if you want more of a creamy look, then consider going with a beige color, like Macadamia, that will tone down and appear cream-colored in the outside lighting. This exterior with the black roof, shutters and front door in the picture below is so classic and crisp! I think Joanna Gaines would approve. 🙂

Is there a color wheel for Benjamin Moore paints?
Hi Gail,
Thanks for reaching out! I currently don’t have a Color Wheel for Benjamin Moore, but it is something that I may look into for the future. I will keep you posted. I can help you find a Sherwin-Williams color that is a close match to a Benjamin Moore color. Let me know!
Thanks so much,
Laura
We have purchased a Mediterranean style home with more of a revival look, I need help with the exterior color as well as the window trim and wood stain. We have lots of windows and lots of wood beams on the exterior. I like white but cant land on what white, thinking Greek Vanilla and would like the look of dark espresso window trim and stained wood. Will be using all SW products. Looking to modernize but not lose old world charm.
Would love to know your thoughts.
