The Perfect Greige
This week I am highlighting Perfect Greige from Sherwin-Williams. A greige paint color that I love and I am super excited to share with you! But first off, what is greige or what color is greige? The color greige is a mix of gray and beige. As if gray and beige got together and had a little greige baby.

Color Wheel Update
Altogether, we have been working on adding ALL of the Sherwin-Williams paint colors to the Rugh Design Color Wheel. We plan to have all 1700 colors up by the end of 2018 and each week we will release 25 new colors with my hand picked color schemes. In addition to the new 25 colors a week I will highlight 1 color from Sherwin-Williams that I personally love.
Recently, we have highlighted Light French Gray (muted gray with slight blue undertone), Snowbound (cooler off-white), Creamy (warm creamy white) and Mindful Gray (cooler greige).
Going forward you can find all of our Color Wheel Update posts here.
Perfect Greige Review
Presently I have been highlighting a lot of grays, greiges and whites/off-whites in my Color Wheel Featured Color posts. I know I keep saying this, but it’s true: this is not on accident! These are the colors that I get the most questions on and the colors that are currently highly sought after for interior (and exterior) paint colors. My heart is to help empower you (my readers!) to understand color and make the best choices for your homes. I do this through writing posts that feature colors that give the tools and information needed to get started. Of course, if you are still stuck or need help, I do offer Color Consultations!
So, this week, I wanted to focus on Perfect Greige SW 6073. I’ll be perfectly (ha!) transparent here. I have not used this color much (if at all) in my Color Consultations. I was sitting here wondering why. Then, I realized that most colors that I choose accomplish what I need them to without having to try a ton of other colors.
In general I have my go-to warm greiges that I know will look good and I pretty much stick to them. If you are wondering what they are, keep reading! Perfect Greige is even warmer than my go-to’s and is just one of those colors that must work in the right space. Perfect Greige has a slight mauve undertone that in some lights and interiors, could start looking kinda pinky-purpleish (new word). However, don’t let that scare you. The inspiration pictures that I found showcase this color beautifully!
Perfect Greige Essentials
Below I will answer some frequently asked questions about Perfect Greige. Keep reading to find out where and how I suggest to use Perfect Greige.
Now that you have a basis for Perfect Greige and my color schemes, check out my Pinterest gallery for some inspiration. See below and let me know which one you like the most. If you have your own pictures, send them to me and I will post them!
Where to use Perfect Greige
Once I started looking for inspiration pictures, I noticed that Perfect Greige seems to look best for interiors that have more of a monochromatic scheme. I believe Perfect Greige works so well in the picture below particularly because of the reddish undertones in the wood (floor, wood beams, mantle) and pops out nicely against the off-white cabinets and trim. The stone fireplace has a mix of stone colors that are both warm and cool. But, I see the mauve tones in there that pick up with Perfect Greige.

Keep in mind that Perfect Greige is more of a saturated medium-toned color that will go well in interiors that have vaulted ceilings and good natural light. Proceed with caution if you have low ceilings or not very good natural light. Perfect Greige could cause a cave-like effect that you might not want for your space! In some areas, that can be a positive. Do you like a cozy feel for your master bedroom? Or prefer some contrast with lighter selections in your bathroom? Then go for it!!
Perfect Greige in the Kitchen
I absolutely love the kitchen design from the inspiration picture below, it is probably my favorite that I found featuring Perfect Greige. The open and airy layout with the vaulted ceilings and the soft creamy cabinet, countertop and backsplash colors work perfectly! Again, she has more of a monochromatic scheme with selections that pick up on the undertones of Perfect Greige. The warm creamy cabinet color and fabrics are flawlessly paired!

Perfect Greige also stands out against darker woods. It brings out the warm tones in the color even more and gives some good contrast against the stained wood. Since Perfect Greige is a medium toned color, it looks best with extreme contrast colors (very light or very dark).

Perfect Greige on exteriors
Not only does Perfect Greige work well for interiors, it also translates over to the exterior. It definitely goes a bit lighter on an exterior, so I like it paired with a brighter white or a darker greige, like Garret Gray SW 6075. Perfect Greige is versatile on the exterior. Try it for a front door color or for the trim color if you would like to use a darker color on the main body. I love the bright white trim with this exterior! Perfect for a coastal look.

Color Wheel update: Perfect Greige and the rest
Perfect Greige had the spotlight, but I also wanted to highlight a color from the Color Wheel update, Dishy Coral SW 6598. I love this bright and happy pink-coral! The picture of Dishy Coral on the inside of a front door create an eclectic and modern look. The tropical plants paired with a moroccan vibe in the furniture and accessories is the optimal backdrop for Dishy Coral! A good call to paint the walls white to let the front door be the focal point.

I just painted my vaulted sunroom perfect greige. I was so upset about purple undertone but once we put up trim it looked different.
